2008-04-03 22:56:01 - The Jayhawks are Final Four Bound for the first time since 2003 and 13th time overall.

On their way to the Final Four, the Kansas Jayhawks defeated Portland State 85-61, UNLV 75-56, Villanova 72-57 and Davidson 59-57. In the first round, Brandon Rush scored 18 points when Kansas reached a 85-61 victory over Portland State. They shot 545 on 33 of 61 shooting, including 12 of 25 from 3 point range. Darrell Arthur socred 17 points

and Mario Chalmers 16 points.

In the second round, the Jayhawks pulled away from UNLV in the second half reaching a 75-56 victory. Mario Chalmers scored 17 points, Russell Robinson scored 13, Brandon Rush scored 12 points and Sherron Collins scored 10 points. UNLV couldn't handle the Jaykawks defense, shooting the worst percentage by a Kansas opponent all season. 27% in a 12 of 45 brickfest.

Brandon Rush scored 16 points, Russell Robinson scored 15 points and Mario Chalmers scored 14 points as the Jayhawks defeated Villanova, 72-57, in the Midwest Regionals. The Jayhawks took control of the game from the beginning with a 14-2 run. They got 4 alley-oop passes in the first 9 minutes and made 7 three pointers, taking a 41-22 lead going into halftime.

The Jayhawks beat Davidson in a 59-57 victory, reaching the Final Four for the first time since 2003 and 13th time overall. When Sherron Collins missed a shot for Kansas with 21 seconds remaining, the Wildcats had a chance to pull off the upset. However, Curry couldn't get off a shot and was forced to pass to Jason Richards, whose shot bounced off the backboard.

The Jayhawks' win in the Midwest Regional final sent all four Number 1 seeds to the Final Four for the first time. The Jayhawks play North Carolina in the semifinals Saturday night in San Antonio. Experts predict that the Jayhawks will defeat the Memphis Tigers in the championship game of the 2008 NCAA Men's Final Four in San Antonio.
