A FRIDA KAHLO self-portrait has set a new record for Latino art after selling for $5.6 million (£3.1 million) at a Sotheby's auction in New York.
The late Mexican artist's ROOTS, painted in 1943, passed the sale price of another work by the artist, SELF PORTRAIT, which sold for $5 million (£2.8 million).
Kahlo, whose life story was made into a 2002 movie FRIDA starring SALMA HAYEK, died in 1954 of respiratory failure.
