Juniper Networks® (NYSE: JNPR) will join with other leaders in next-generation networking at this week’s SC09 Conference in a multi-vendor demonstration of 100 Gigabit Ethernet (100GbE) networking, and will also demonstrate true 100GE networking on its T1600 Series Core Router, as announced in June.

Juniper subject matter experts will also further demonstrate and describe the solutions embodied in the company’s “The New Network is Here” launch

announcements, made on Oct. 29 in New York City.

These and other demonstrations and product presentations will be offered at Juniper’s SC09 Booth 1448 on the exhibit floor.

Multi-vendor 100Gbps Demonstration

Highlighting Juniper’s activities at SC09 will be a multi-vendor demonstration of a live 100Gbps routing and optical network. In this demonstration, 100Gbps of test data (generated by an Ixia test set) will be transmitted from Portland to Seattle through a single slot on the Juniper Networks T1600 Series Core Router. This transmission will leverage a new 10x10GbE physical interface card (which Juniper will also announce at SC09), via an Infinera optical transport platform, deployed on the Level 3 and Internet2 nationwide fiber-optic network.
The data will then loop back to the T1600 Series Core Router in Juniper’s booth 1448 on the SC09 show floor in Portland.

Other demonstrations in Juniper Booth 1448

Juniper will be also demonstrating the 100GbE PIC on its T1600 Series Core Router, as announced in June—representing true 100 Gigabit Ethernet networking.

The company will also be demonstrating and further describing some of the key solutions recently announced at the Oct. 29 “The New Network is Here” event in New York City, including the Juniper Networks SRX Series Services Gateways and MX-3D Universal Edge Routers that enable ‘cloud-ready data center’ solutions.

Also being presented at SC09 are the Juniper Networks EX Series Ethernet Switches with ‘Virtual Chassis’ technology; “Sustainable (Green) Networking” solutions, and 3-D views of the entire Juniper solutions portfolio.

Juniper in SCinet

Juniper is extending its ten-year tradition of providing high-performance networking solutions in the SCinet Network Operations Center (NOC). Built at each year’s Supercomputing Conference by volunteers from universities, government and industry, SCinet is one of the world’s most powerful networks, providing a highly sophisticated and extreme networking infrastructure that can support the revolutionary applications and network experiments that have become the trademark of the SC Conference.

For SCinet at SC09, Juniper will deploy its industry-leading TX Matrix Core Router, which interconnects up to four T640 chassis into a single routing entity with 32 slots and a sustainable throughput rate of 2.5 Tbps.

Juniper’s SCinet contributions will also include the MX960 Ethernet Services Router, the EX8200 Series Ethernet Switches, and M10i Multiservice Edge Routers—as well as Juniper personnel. The MX960 will have a prominent role at Layer 2, supporting dynamic services to several SC09 networks.

Vendor Presentation

Debbie Montano, Chief Architect, Government, Education and Medical at Juniper Networks, will describe Juniper’s breakthrough 100GbE Interface for its T Series Core Routers at an Exhibitor Forum Session at 4:00 p.m.

PST on Tuesday, Nov. 17, in Room E147-148.
