Joan Scribner, Principal of Nipmuc Regional High School in Upton has been elected President of the Massachusetts Secondary School Administrators’ Association (MSSAA) for the 2009-2010 school year.
Mrs. Scribner has been serving as Nipmuc’s principal since 1999 after serving as the assistant principal for the previous three years. She began her career as an educator in 1989 as a foreign language
teacher at Nipmuc H.S.
“It is a true honor for me to serve my colleagues throughout the Commonwealth as President of the Association this year. Serving as principal in Upton for the past ten years as well as being a member of the MSSAA, I have learned first hand of the difficulties and the rewards that this position brings,” Mrs. Scribner said.
“As an educator I know the importance of bringing together fellow administrators to discuss leadership, educational issues and the challenges we find ourselves in during these difficult economic times.
Working together I am confident that as the educational leaders of our state, we will be able to continue to move the educational concerns of our youth forward in a positive way and address issues that come to us from the local, state and national levels.”
“Joan is recognized locally and statewide as a dedicated educational leader whose commitment to the growth and well-being of children motivates her to work tirelessly on their behalf,” Richard Neal, MSSAA Executive Director, said. “Her years of service and leadership to MSSAA have benefited school leaders and students throughout the State.”
Prior to her election as President, Mrs. Scribner was a member of the MSSAA Board and also served as Chair of the Association’s Finance/Personnel and Cheerleading Committees.
The Massachusetts Secondary School Administrators’ Association represents the interests of 1,200 principals and assistant principals in high schools and middle schools throughout the Commonwealth.
