www.ju.edu/med - For Jacksonville University Sara Phipps, 904-399-0005 sara@createaruckus.com www.createaruckus.com/pressroom Jacksonville University's School of Education has announced three new Masters degree concentrations under its Master of Education program, including the first and only Sports Management and Leadership track offered on the First Coast, an Instructional Leadership and Organizational Development track
and an Educational Leadership track.
The progressive curriculum was developed by Dr. Christina Ramirez-Smith, Dean of the School of Education. "In designing the M.Ed. in Leadership and Learning, we specifically applied community and adult theories and principles to professional development in graduate education," said Dr. Ramirez-Smith. "We want to develop a conceptually-driven and intentionally-designed 'community' working together to develop their leadership skills."
In a departure from courses of study typically seen within Master of Education degree programs, the new Masters tracks in leadership and learning focus heavily on those theories and best practices that successful leaders employ to envision, advocate, implement and manage change within an organization.
Cohort-format classes for the new Master of Education concentrations at Jacksonville University will begin in January 2009, in 18-month, 34 credit-hour programs. Hybrid and online class formats will also be available in a combination of modular and stand-along courses.
