2014-01-29 20:27:13 - Irma Ramos has joined the North Orange County Community College District (CA) as the Vice Chancellor of Human Resources. Ramos has 24 years of experience in California higher education and previously served as the Vice President of Human Resources at Ms. San Jacinto Community College District. She earned her MBA with a concentration in human resources from DeVry’s Keller Graduate School of Management.

Anaheim, Calif. – Chancellor Ned Doffoney today announced the appointment of Irma Ramos as Vice Chancellor of Human Resources for the North Orange County Community College District (NOCCCD). Ramos is an accomplished academic administrator with 24 years of experience in higher education in California. She previously served as the Vice President of Human Resources at Mt. San Jacinto Community College District and Associate Vice President of Human Resources at Long Beach City College. Ramos was hired to replace Jeff Horsley, who served as NOCCCD’s Vice Chancellor of Human Resources for over sixteen years.

The Board of Trustees ratified Ramos’ hiring during its January 28, 2014 meeting. “Irma Ramos' skills and values make her an excellent fit with NOCCCD's leadership team, and

we believe she has the vision and knowledge to help us achieve our goals," said Board of Trustees President Jeffrey Brown. "She brings us a strong record of working positively and effectively with employees at all levels, and we look forward to drawing on her leadership experience with human resources technology initiatives as we update and expand our employee recruitment, processing, and tracking capabilities.”

A California native, Ramos holds a bachelor’s degree from DeVry University and a MBA with a concentration in human resources from the Keller Graduate School of Management.

Ramos has been involved in several associations and professional organizations, including serving as President of the Association of Chief Human Resource Officers (ACHRO) and serving as a member of the California Community College Chancellor’s Statewide College Council. She is active in community service and has received numerous awards and honors.

The Vice Chancellor of Human Resources position oversees a diverse workforce of about 5,000 employees, including faculty, mangers, classified, and administrative staff for NOCCCD District Services, Cypress College, Fullerton College, and the School of Continuing Education.

NOCCCD Background
Two of the state’s premiere colleges and most extensive continuing education program combine to provide the quality educational programming of the North Orange County Community College District (NOCCCD). Nearly 70,000 students enroll each term at Cypress College, Fullerton College, and the School of Continuing Education. College students are able to shape their futures in programs leading to associate degrees, vocational certificates, and transfer opportunities. Life-long learning also is possible in continuing education programs that range from high school completion and basic skills mastery through an array of vocational training and self-development courses.
