25 years have now passed since the atrocities committed against the Kurdish population of Iraq. This exhibition of photographs of and relating to the Kurdish Genocide commemorates this terrible anniversary a quarter of a century on.

The government of Saddam Hussein implemented what was called the Anfal operation. This was a comprehensive plan over eight stages of military operations that was carefully planned and organized to target Iraqi Kurds on account of their ethnic or collective identity, rather than their individual status. As a result, many thousands were executed in cold blood and thousands of villages and livelihood structures were destroyed. The gas attack on the town of Halabja in March 1988 killed at least 5,000 civilians and injured more than

7,000 more.

The official opening will be hosted by Prof. Joanna Senyszyn MEP, Vice-Chair of the Subcommittee on Human Rights. Prof. Senyszyn will be joined by other special guests.

The presentation will be followed by a reception.
