Research and Markets (cts.businesswire.com/ct/CT"id=smartlink&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww ..) has announced the addition of John Wiley and Sons Ltd's new report "An Introduction to Linear Programming and Game Theory, 3rd Edition" to their offering.
This mathematics text features definitions, theorems, and proofs, and the presentation is at the level of the average mathematics major. Mathematical maturity is not demanded of the reader. The topics

demonstrate the mathematics being used in real world applications, and the associated problems provide the opportunity for readers to develop and apply their analytical abilities in solving realistic problems.
The Third Edition features various additions as well as improvements that have been developed over the last decade, and the most significant addition to the text involves technology. LT Assistant, a computer application for learning the simplex method, has been developed by co-author Gerard Keough and was designed to be used with this book.
This user-friendly program performs the arithmetic of the pivot operation, which is the computational heavy step in each iteration of the simplex algorithm. This software emulates the presentation and use of the algorithm as it appears throughout the text. The spreadsheet tool, Solver, has also been integrated into the book and can solve linear, non-linear, and integer programming problems. Throughout the exercises, more involved word problems are stated, a suitable mathematical model is formulated, and Solver's solution outputs are then provided. The reader is then questioned on the interpretation and use of the output. All readers will benefit from this type of problem. A new appendix discusses how to work with Solver and presents new exercises related to Solver's solution outputs.
Introduction to Linear Programming and Game Theory, Third Edition includes various additions as well as improvements that have been developed over the last decade, and the most significant addition to the text involves technology. It features an introduction, discussion, and utilization of Solver, a spreadsheet software package that solves mathematical programming problems. PRT Simplex, a computer application for learning the simplex method, has been developed by co-author Gerard Keough and was designed to be used with this book.
