International Youth day is organized on every 12th of August to recognize efforts of the world’s youth in enhancing global society. The theme of this year is “Youth Migration: Moving Development Forward." The main discussion point of this Day is to raise awareness of the opportunities and risks associated with youth migration globally. It also aims to promote ways to engage the youth in becoming more actively involved in making positive contributions to their communities.
Students were very enthusiastic and their active participation made the seminar successful. A very vivid presentation on the topic was shared by Mr. J.S. Mahanwal. It was very interesting to know that in 2010 there were an estimated 27 million international young migrants. While migration can often offer valuable opportunities and contribute to the development of communities and society at large, it can also pose risks and lead to unacceptable situations, including discrimination and exploitation. At the end of the seminar, a lot questions were put up by students to the speaker. The event ended by a thanks giving note by Vice Chairman- Mr. Deepak Gahlot.
