Bollywood film star AAMIR KHAN is in hot water in the Indian state of Gujarat after opposing a dam project.
The famous actor has been banned in cinemas across the state after he joined a protest against the building of the dam, which would displace 35,000 people.
And his new film FANAA (ANNIHILATION) will not be screened in Gujarat until Khan takes back his comments about the irrigation project.
Khan's actions have angered the Bharatiya Janata Party, whose national secretary AMIT THAKAR says, "Banning the film is a way of telling the world that we will not let anybody talk or act against the state's development." But Khan refuses to back down over the issue.
He says, "Am I wrong to take up the poor man's issue? No Indian will think of letting fellow brethren lose home, land and bread and butter.
"I am up against a big organisation. I may get crushed eventually but I will not back off."
