Leaders from across the imaging industry attending the 63 rd Annual Conference of the International Imaging Industry Association (I3A; www.i3a.org : 
), the leading global association for the imaging industry, last night witnessed the presentation of the 2009 I3A Achievement Award to Joseph Gorsuch, a longtime contributor to the imaging industry and a committed environmental scientist.
The awards ceremony took
place at the Welcome Reception for the 63 rd annual I3A conference, Imaging Innovation 09, which is taking place in Monterey this week, prior to the 6Sight Future of Imaging Conference (

I3A’s annual Achievement Award is given to an individual who has been nominated by others in the I3A community and selected by a committee of judges. It was created to recognize, encourage and celebrate that person's contributions to the advancement of the imaging industry through their participation in I3A.
"It’s a pleasure to recognize the significant contribution Joe Gorsuch has made to I3A and to the industry, during his career at Eastman Kodak and continuing through his professional consulting work. His efforts leading our Environmental Research Program resulted in savings to the industry of more than $5 billion in regulatory costs over 10 years,” said Lisa Walker, I3A President. “Joe’s passion for environmental work is unending, his work ethic impeccable, and his unwavering determination for seeing projects through to the end have combined to leave a lasting influence on our industry.”
Joseph Gorsuch’s 30-year career at the Eastman Kodak Company focused on environmental projects and research. In this work, he led special health, safety, and environmental project teams, awarded grants and contracts, designed studies and published results, and worked closely with industry organizations, other photographic manufacturers, and governmental regulators. He has coordinated and facilitated a dozen international symposia/conferences and more than 100 peer-reviewed publications, and he has edited six books and served as Guest Editor of four special journal issues. Following his retirement from Kodak in 2005, he has continued to provide environmental services as a consultant.

Also at the evening event, I3A’s Safety Excellence Award Program honored Agfa Corporation (in four locations), Eastman Kodak Company (20 locations), Fujicolor Processing (two locations), Fujifilm eSystems, FUJIFILM Holdings America Corporation, and FUJIFILM U.S.A., Inc. (five locations) for their exemplary safety records last year.
