How to stay in shape this Christmas

Print article Print article
2012-10-11 23:33:05 - December is usually a month that every one overindulges, Aimee Rogers explains how to stay in shape this year and enjoy Christmas guilt free.

January is the month normally associated with New Year, New You campaigns and starting as you mean to go on with well-meaning resolutions. People wanting to start the New Year with a fresh start, determined to stick to their fitness programmes and subscribing to new gym memberships.

So November may feel a bit premature to start thinking about your fitness levels and starting to get in shape but Aimee Rogers, a personal trainer from Sheffield, suggests that it’s a perfect time to start.

“Christmas is a time when people generally ease off from their usual training schedule or even postpone starting a new one until the New Year. By starting or changing your fitness regime in November you can get results

in time for Christmas, meaning you can ease off over the festive period and then use January to lose those extra pounds you may have acquired!”

Starting to become more active doesn’t have to mean expensive gym memberships and fancy trainers. Sheffield has 80 parks and 650 other green and open spaces that are great for autumnal walks, just grab your hat and scarf and get going!

If you are new to exercise always consult your GP or health care provider before starting.
