Excerpts from an interview with the author

How were you inspired to write this book?

GR: Poverty and hopelessness drove me to Jesus I suppose. I went to Him for solace. What I got was that and the keys to gates of success too. Since then, I’ve been applying His teachings in my daily business life when dealing with people from all professions. The results were so amazing that I begun spending every waking moment trying to squeeze out more money from Him. I didn’t think of sharing this gold mine with anyone.

Perhaps, I didn’t want to. Part of me felt it was pointless too. Who would believe me? So why waste time forcing people to share my treasure?

When did you first discover these treasures and why did it take you this long to share it with the world?

GR: My first experience was in 1990 at a church in Bombay. I went for comfort and in the middle of the service broke down crying uncontrollably and no one around me seemed to notice. It was like no one could see me. The more tears fell, the lighter I felt inside. Since, then, everything I have touched has turned to gold. This new-found treasure I found in God has taken me from starvation to plenty, from torn jeans to Saville Row, from the Bombay local trains to the comfort of private jets. I didn’t ask God for all these, I only asked to be accepted, to feel like somebody wants me.
Recently, I met with a terrible accident. I begged God to spare me for the sake of my young children. He did. I asked how I could possibly express my gratitude to Him. The answer I got was, ‘share your success secret with all who will listen.’

Who is this book targeted at? Who is the reader?

GR: It is an essential tool for salespeople. I’ve been a sales guy all my life and I know what a lonely, difficult, thankless, challenging life it is. I’ve seen sales people get desperate enough to be driven to the brink of suicide. I want them to have a 24/7 resource they can always count on to take them forward, to show them the tiny paths hidden in the thick concrete jungles. I want them to have ‘inspiration on tap’, I want them to feel free to drop their baggage of the past and reach out to embrace a bright new future. I want my fellow sales people to believe that if they do their best, they have the right to ask God to fill in the blanks. I want to share with them this awesome power today!

Why do you project yourself as a sinner? Why this exhibition of vulgarity and vice?

GR: Because that’s who I am and in that I believe, I am no different from any other person. I’m just the poster child. I love wine, women, a spot of gambling, the occasional smoke.
Why this portrayal of the ‘real me’?
Because, like the rest of us, I too am guilty of every other vice that we all stand accused of at some point or the other in our lives. The only difference is, I don’t hide it. I don’t want to be perfect in a world in which religious-turned-pedophiles are protected, superpowers murder innocent people in cold blood ‘for their own good’, champions of the truth are labeled and tortured as terrorists and the ordinary man on the street refuses to be judged by the same standards he uses to judge others by. My sins pale in comparison to those of the people our hypocritical society respects and looks up to. If these bastards are your leading lights, then I am content to be labeled a sinner.

Why does the reader need to know this?

GR: Most of us are afraid to go to God because you are all like me, sinners! Many feel they are beyond forgiveness. I know for sure, that no matter how beyond redemption you may think you are, all you have to do is – ask for forgiveness. It’s that simple. It doesn’t matter what you may be guilty of or which God you believe in. You don’t even need a place of worship to go to. You ARE the place of worship. All you have to go is close your eyes and in the heart of hearts say you are sorry and ask for His pardon. The open your eyes expecting to see a spotless new you ready for the goodies. The goodies will come! I promise you they will.
