Right now, it is irrefutable to say that the iPhone currently holds the title as the best Smartphone in the industry. Although it may not necessarily be the best in every sense of the word (performance, value for money, etc.), you’d only have to look at Apple’s revenues and their ever-growing fan base to realize that the iPhone has indeed reached the pinnacle of the mobile phone industry. Every now and then, another Smartphone is marketed, released, and more often than not, fails to live up to its name as being the next iPhone killer. However, there are some mobiles that have somewhat achieved this feat. Although they may have not been able to actually kill the iPhone (something we think has unfortunately become utterly impossible), they’ve come
close by being able to match it in every department imaginable.
That is of course, with the exception of total worldwide sales. Just last month, we saw the release of the Sony Ericsson Satio which is set to be the UK-based manufacturer’s latest attempt at reaching the heights set by the iPhone. Here are some reasons why we believe this device has the potential to do just that.
Snapper Power
When it comes to multimedia features, no one does it better than Sony Ericsson. Not only have they talked the talk but they’ve also been able to walk the walk. Testament to this fact is the undeniable success garnered by both the Walkman and the Cyber-Shot line of devices which excelled in the music and imaging departments of mobile phones, respectively.
And now, with a 12-Megapixel snapper on board – definitely the best in the business – the Satio has the potential to capture iPhone users that have grown tired of their mobile’s mediocre 3-Megapixel camera. While some might think that this feature is nothing more than an exaggerated marketing gimmick, we believe that it’s the kind of feature that will make you want to buy the mobile just because of the amazing feature itself.
Movie Arena
While the hoards of downloadable applications available on the iPhone still happens to be one of its strong points, we still believe in the saying that too much of anything is never good. With the Play Now Arena now having the added feature of movies on board the Satio, we are presented with a breath of fresh air. Instead of rummaging through the thousands of applications, why not start downloading movies for a change? Reports say the new Satio users will be given up to 15 free movies upfront, and an additional 5 per month. That should be more than enough to satisfy your on-the-go film viewing cravings.
Cheap as They Come
The best part about the Sony Ericsson Satio is that you can get it for free! That is of course, when you’re on upwards of 35-pound monthly tariffs. If this is the case then you should expect your network carrier to provide with the Satio free of charge on an upgrade or for new subscribers. This is definitely much better than paying an additional £50 or so for the iPhone which happens to be a lot of money, especially in today’s wretched economy.
