- In the aftermath of Hurricane Ike, Ian Carter, President of Global Operations for Hilton Hotels Corporation, has reaffirmed the company's commitment to the city of Houston by announcing plans to reopen the three prominent properties it manages in the city for normal business operations as soon as possible. Currently, the 1,203 room Hilton Americas Houston and the 448 room

Hilton Post Oak are open but committed to accommodating first response groups and the 324 room Doubletree Houston Downtown is repairing storm inflicted damage. All three properties are expected to be fully functional during the course of the week of September 22nd.

"Hilton is resolved to support Houston by re-establishing its presence in city at the earliest opportunity," stated Carter. He went on to add, "We are proud of the role our Hilton team members and managers played throughout the hurricane. Their actions reflect the can do attitude that will allow Houston to quickly recover from Ike and to reemerge as one of our nation's premiere meetings destinations. In the meantime, the thoughts and prayers of Hilton team members around the world are focused on Houstonians and all other residents of South Texas and Louisiana who have been impacted by the storm."
