King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Centre managed by Hilton has been awarded a prestigious Hilton Worldwide Travel With Purpose Action Grant, one of only 26 awarded worldwide.
The Travel with Purpose™ Action Grants are part of Hilton Worldwide’s global effort to recognize, encourage and offer support to those local communities in which the company operates.
Hilton KHBTCC’s team will be working closely with its community partner, INJAZ organization, to implement the project at Al Swaimeh School for boys. The play area will be renovated as a football court serving the students as well as the community after school hours widening the base of beneficiaries from this project.
Volunteers from Hilton KHBTCC will be giving 10th grade students a one year long program called
Enterprise Business Challenge. This program focuses on developing students’ entrepreneurial skills, introducing them to ethical Business concepts, building up action plans, and coming up with new and creative business ideas to be implemented at their communities. The course comes in two parts; theoretical classes in addition to a computer-based simulation game that allows the students to practice the skills they learned in real-life scenarios.
Kamel Ajami, Hilton Worldwide country manager – Jordan, commented: “Our corporate social responsibility efforts at Hilton revolve around four main pillars; creating opportunities, strengthening communities, celebrating cultures and living sustainability. The community projects that we are implementing in Al Swaimeh area at the Dead Sea focus on youth development and career mentoring in addition to fostering cultural bridging.”
Muhannad Jarrah, executive director of the Skills Building Program at INJAZ Jordan said: "This initiative will add great value to our partnership with King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Centre managed by Hilton, it will expand the impact that we are foreseeing of the Schools Adoption Project in Al Swaimeh area reaching to two schools. We are very excited to implement this project and we applaud Hilton for their continuous support to the community."
