HealthPartners Introduces New Health Plan for Individuals

In addition to three free office visits per year per person, "Three for Free" also includes: -0- $5 copay

for all generic drugs 100 percent coverage for up to $200 preventive care annually $250 copay for an emergency visit

"Our research shows that consumers, especially in the individual market, want simplicity, certainty and control," said Doug Smith, HealthPartners senior vice president of Sales.

Premiums for "Three for Free" start as low as $69 per month. People can apply now for coverage that begins July 1, 2008. In addition, HealthPartners also has two other health plans for individuals: the Empower plan includes benefits that are health savings account eligible and preventive care coverage; the Traditional plan now includes flexible deductibles that members can adjust in $250 increments.

Earlier this year, HealthPartners introduced new online tools to compare and apply for an individual health plan. The interactive tool (www.healthpartners.com/portal/individualhelp) asks seven questions such as age and price range to suggest the most appropriate plan.

About six percent of Minnesotans currently have individual health plans compared to 94 percent of Minnesotans who have coverage through their employer. HealthPartners has about 20,000 members in individual plans. That number is projected to double in five years.
