Hyperhidrosis is a disorder that is varcharacterized by excessive sweating. This sweating serves no physiological function and may create social embarrassment. Excess sweat can ruin clothes and shoes.

These include genetic factors, stress and chronic anxiety Persistent or prolonged fever may lead to increased sweating, although it is playing a physiological role. Some malignancies, such as lymphoma, often produce increased sweating. Hyperthyroidism produces increased metabolic activity that frequently will lead to hyperhidrosis. Certain drugs, such as narcotics, and withdrawal from addicting drugs can lead to hyperhidrosis. Menopause may produce increased sweating.

Signs and Symptoms of Hyperhidrosis
