Symptoms produced by cluster headaches include sudden onset of headache, often at night or while sleeping. The headache typically increases over about15 minutes and lasts about 2 hours. Usually, the pain is unilateral around the eye, severe, piercing or boring pain. It produces increased tearing of the eye on the side of the headache, red eye, and a swollen, drooping eyelid. Nasal congestion and runny nose frequently occur. The heart beat may be slow, with episodes of anxiety, sweating, restless, or, rarely, violent behavior.
