The nasolacrimal duct drains tears and other secretions of the eyes into the nasal cavity. The duct begins as a small opening at the inner, lower eyelid. Causes of Nasoductal Cyst


These cysts are caused by inflammatory changes, damage or narrowing of the nasolacrimal duct.

Signs and Symptoms of Nasoductal Cyst


Nasolacrimal cysts develop along the course of the duct. The produce small lumps under the inner part of the lower lid. These lumps may be painful and may become secondarily infected. Infection will produce redness, heat and increased swelling. The eye may become red under these conditions. Interference with the normal drainage of tears can result in fluid collecting in the eye or draining onto the face.
