1058 HANDS REACH OUT ACROSS AMERICA: From Hawaii to New Hampshire, C&S Employees Make a Difference

2009-10-27 14:01:21 - C&S employees banded together across the country for the 7th consecutive year on Make a Difference Day, Saturday October 24, 2009. Make A Difference Day brings millions of Americans together each October to volunteer in their communities.

Reaching out to local communities, the C&S Make a Difference Day initiative inspired more than 500 employees to roll up their sleeves and volunteer in teams for community-based organizations. “Make A Difference Day is a wonderful demonstration of our employees taking action on behalf of our communities,” said Gina Goff, C&S Director of Community Involvement. “It is a great example

of neighbors helping neighbors.”

Most of this year’s C&S Make A Difference Day projects were in alignment with the company’s social focus of addressing the issue of hunger, and included:

Serving dinner at the Friends of Night People soup kitchen

Keene, NH
Painting the office and dining room at The Community Kitchen

Waianae, HI
Constructing a lanai, assembling care packages and serving lunch at the Waianae Homeless Shelter

Birmingham, AL
Serving lunch at the Shepura Men’s Homeless Center and sprucing up at the Ronald McDonald House

Sacramento, CA
Volunteering at the Sacramento Food Bank’s mobile food pantry

Manteca, CA
Painting, installing carpet and cubicle dividers, replacing lighting and ceiling tiles at the Second Harvest Food Bank of San Joaquin County

Wilkes-Barre, PA
Packing food boxes for local senior citizens at the Weinberg Food Bank

Hatfield, MA
Sorting and preparing holiday cards at the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts to launch their holiday season

Sorting and packing food at the Harvest Hope Food Bank
