ATHENS, Greece (AP) - Two members of Greece's weightlifting team at the Mediterranean Games in Italy have tested positive for doping, according to the head of their national federation.
Pyrros Dimas said he was informed Tuesday that the 'A' samples of two athletes competing were found positive for illegal performance-enhancing drugs, during tests conducted June 1.
A federation statement did not name the athletes or the illegal substances detected.
The June 26-July 5 Mediterranean Games are being held in Pescara.
Once the driving force of the country's medal ambitions, Greek weightlifting suffered a severe blow last year when 11 members of the national team tested positive for an anabolic steroid in the lead-up to the Beijing Olympics.
