Gray's Auctioneers to Feature Unique Collection of Fine Art in Upcoming Auction

CLEVELAND, OHIO, November 17, 2008 - Gray's Auctioneers, Northeast Ohio's premier fine art and antique auction house, is pleased to announce its upcoming Fine Arts and Antiques Auction to take place on Saturday, November 22nd 1:00 pm. Notable items include an engraving by Emile Nolde 'Fran N.' estimated at $8,000-10,000, and 'Nude' a drypoint and aquatint on cream wove paper

estimated at $15,000-20,000, a Kathe Kollowitz 'Self Portrait' estimated at $5000-7,000, and a Mixografia by Rufino Tamayo 'Mono Negra' estimated at $3,000-4,000.

Other notable fine art includes a Picasso color lithograph 'Bouquet of Flowers' $1,500-2,500, a soft-ground etching 'Nausicaa' by Henri Matisse estimated at $2,500-3,500, and a color lithograph by Chagall 'Le Coq Rouge' estimated at $5,000-7,000 and many others.

Other highly collectible antiques include a Regence style tulipwood, kingwood & gilt bronze-mounted marble-top bow front commode $3,000-$5,000, an early 18th century Regence Provincial carved walnut commode $5,000-7,000, a Queen Anne figured maple fan-carved flat top highboy circa 1776 estimated at $4,500-$5,500, and an early 19th century Hepplewhite maple and walnut chest of drawers with fruitwood inlay $1,800-$2,800.

Highly desirable 'mid ‘50s-early ‘60s' furniture features a nine-piece walnut bedroom set by mid-century modern designer George Nelson for the Herman Miller 'Basic Cabinet Series $3,000-5,000, along with affordable ultra-cool pieces for the home and office including a Mies van Der Rohe style chrome and leather arm chair with ottoman $150-250, a Drexel mid-century modern sectional sofa $100-200, a Danish glass coffee table with teak supports $300-500, a reproduction Eames chair with ottoman $80-$120, a pair of Herman Miller wire chairs with bikini covers and Eiffel Tower bases $150-250, and a Herman Miller pedestal table with four fiberglass and leather chairs $150-250 among others.

Also up for sale are paintings, lithographs, carved African masks, contemporary sculpture and jewelry from the estate of Cleveland philanthropist Odette Valabregue Wurzburger.

All lots will be on exhibition beginning Thursday, November 20th 12 noon to 8:00 pm and Friday, November 21st 12 noon to 5:00 pm. Auction starts Saturday, November 22 1:00 pm. Doors open for last minute preview at 11:30 am.
