Granite Construction Awarded $20.4 Million Reconstruction Project in Utah

Granite Construction Incorporated (NYSE:GVA) announced today that Granite Construction Company has been awarded a $20.4 million contract by the Utah Department of Transportation for the reconstruction of Riverdale Road in Riverdale, Utah. Linking Weber County to Ogden, Riverdale Road is a major east-west thoroughfare and one of the busiest roads in Utah.

The contract calls for the reconstruction of five lanes

of asphalt into seven lanes of portland cement concrete over a one mile span of Riverdale Road from 550 West to Lincoln Avenue. Work will include 30,000 cubic yards of roadway excavation, 70,000 square yards of portland cement concrete and 20,000 tons of hot mix asphalt. Scope of the project also includes the replacement of curbs, gutters and sidewalks, as well as new street lighting, signals and a storm drainage system. The project is scheduled for completion in July 2010.
