2013-02-20 12:33:47 - 28 people from all over County Clare this week graduated and received Childcare qualifications from the Ennis-based Clare Training Resource Centre.
The courses, which were funded by the Department of Social Protection, included FETAC Level 5 in Childcare and FETAC Level 6 Supervision in Childcare.
The FETAC-accredited Clare Family Resource Centre Ltd. has been operated by the Clare Family Resource Centre Ltd (CFRC) since 2009. The CFRC itself is a voluntary organisation with charitable status and was established in 1993 to cater for the growing need for childcare in the local area. The centre is run by a voluntary board of directors that consist of members of the local community.
Commenting on this week’s graduation ceremony, Manager Maureen Keane said: “The evening was celebrated with management, staff, family and friends of the Clare Family Resource Centre and was a wonderful way to acknowledge
all the hard work and dedication of our employees. It was a true testament of their passion and commitment as childcare practitioners.”
Ms. Keane added: “The Clare Training Resource Centre was established to ensure Community Employment participants are trained to a high standard which will empower them to seek employment and work in the childcare sector. It also confirms the provision of high quality care provided within our service. We would like to congratulate everyone who has received FETAC qualifications and we wish them the best for the future.”
Currently involved in the running of the Clare Training Resource Centre are the voluntary Board of Directors: Liam O’Connor, Olive Whelan, Emer Mathews and Terence Gleeson; Maureen Keane – Manager; Magda Bola Ogunniyi – CE Supervisor and Coordinator; and finally Kate Looney - Tutor.
CFRC, a voluntary organisation with charitable status, was established in 1993 to cater for the growing need for childcare in the local area.
Commenting on the childcare facilities provided at the Clare Family Resource Centre, Ms. Keane noted that the provision of additional childcare places at the Watery Road centre has accommodated the childcare needs of hundreds of families in Ennis since the centre was opened in 2009.
“This facility has supported and assisted families and children in Clare through the provision of accessible affordable high quality childcare. The centre provides part/full-time day care and sessional places for children aged 6 months to109 years. It also features a multi-sensory room for children with special needs and a larger outside space to meet the needs of children in our care. We work under the auspices of ‘Aistear the Early Childhood Curriculum Framework’ and ‘Siolta the National Quality Framework’ and incorporate both the Highscope and Montessori methods of teaching. One member of our staff is also currently completing a BA in Early Childhood Studies and Practice with NUI Galway and received a HETAC Level 7 Certificate”, continued Ms. Keane.
