OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 10/22/09 -- Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaelle Jean, Governor General of Canada, concluded her two-day official visit to Slovenia by hosting a Youth Dialogue, during which she emphasized the importance of the new agreement signed today between Canada and Slovenia. This agreement will allow for increased youth mobility between the two countries.



"This historic agreement will provide greater opportunities for exchanges between young Canadians and Slovenes, further strengthening the bonds of friendship that unite our two great nations," the Governor General said.



Her Excellency and Slovenian youth discussed the importance of building peace and solidarity in their community.



During her visit, the Governor General had meetings with His Excellency Danilo Turk, President of Slovenia; His Excellency Borut Pahor, Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia; and His Excellency Dr. Pavel Gantar, President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia. She also visited the Barracks Franc Rozman Stane, where she met with Slovenian soldiers who served alongside members of the Canadian Forces as part of the International Security Assistance Force, in Kabul, Afghanistan.



The Governor General will begin her State visit to the Republic of Croatia tomorrow; she will take part in official ceremonies and activities from October 23-27, 2009.
