HOSTS ROAD SAFETY AND AWARENESS WORKSHOPS FOR WOMEN DRIVERS IN INDIA
New Delhi, India, March 18, 2013: With safety and innovation at the helm, Goodyear, one of the world’s largest tyre companies is conducting free “Women With Drive” vehicle maintenance and road safety education workshops for female motorists at various organizations in Delhi. The aim of the program is to equip women with the knowledge and confidence to help keep their cars in safe running order. The first leg of the activity started at Goodyear’s corporate office on March 8, 2013, marking International Women’s Day, with more sessions to continue throughout the month of March.
At the “Women With Drive” workshops, Goodyear’s tyre and auto experts share key information with participants that allow them pre-empt problems with their cars by knowing
what to keep an eye on. This allows them to feel in control of their car’s health and emergency situations while on the road – whether they are car, tyre or driving safety related.
The workshops are made up of a series of sessions focused on basic auto care knowledge on different areas of the car, including fluids, electrics, belts, hoses, wipers and under body. They also cover aspects such as the correct driving position, good driving practices and basic car and tyre inspection information. Participants are then given an opportunity to share their past driving experiences, and will receive guidance on how to better deal with uncomfortable on-road situations.
Mr. P.K.Walia, Vice President of Consumer Tyres for Goodyear India said: “Safety and innovation are of the utmost importance to Goodyear and at the core of everything we do. It’s a helpless feeling for anyone being stranded by the side of the road, not knowing how to change a tyre or why their car won’t start. The aim of the “Women With Drive” workshops is to affirm Goodyear’s service to help women; we want to support and encourage not just our female customers, but all female drivers, to feel safe and secure while on the road.”
Goodyear’s “Women With Drive” initiative was started by Goodyear in Australia in 2007. It has since been successfully implemented in other Asia Pacific countries including the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, and China. In India, Goodyear first announced the “Women with Drive” program to celebrate the 100th International Women's Day, on March 8, 2011.
