Newport Beach, Calif., September 4, 2013 -- Orange County resident, actor, and social activist, Aragon the Cat, is headed to Capitol Hill on September 12 to appear on behalf of animal health.
Every September, Members of Congress, their staff, and the animal health community gather to celebrate America's pets at the Animal Health Institute’s annual Pet Night on Capitol Hill. This year’s event will take place on September 12, 2013 and will feature an appearance by feline guest of honor, Aragon the Cat. Best known as the charismatic “Lord Tubbington” on the Emmy Award winning Fox series, Glee, Aragon is a 22-pound Bengal that resides in Newport Beach, CA.
The four-legged star has appeared in an array of popular television shows and
commercials since 2011. In addition to Glee, his acting credits include a role on Season 4 of Animal Planet’s My Cat From Hell and the recent Verizon Wireless “Dancing with Cats” commercial. He is currently in talks to have his own animated series, which will feature famed voice-over actor Craig Desilva (The Sopranos) as the voice of the famous feline.
When he’s not acting, Aragon uses his celebrity status to bring about positive social changes in the world. The Southern California-native, who was adopted from an Animal Rescue Facility in Sabillasville Maryland, is also the founder of Aragon's Love, Inc. The center’s mission is to raise global awareness and resources for abandoned and unwanted animals all over the world as Aragon believes in: “a loving home for every animal.” As a Pet Partners Therapy cat, Aragon is accustomed to meet and greets and public attention. He enjoys frequent visits to local hospitals and community events, bestowing his motto -- "Be yourself everybody else is already taken" --upon whomever he encounters.
Aragon’s upcoming appearance at AHI Pet Night falls in line with his constant mission of celebrating the health of animals across the world. In addition to being an annual favorite of many Capitol Hill staff and animal lovers alike, the event celebrates the bond between people and their pets. During the reception, attendees will be invited to mix and mingle with colleagues and pose for photos with honored celebrity pet. Qince who plays "baxter" in the upcoming film, Anchorman II, will join Aragon at the event.
Past celebrity guests at the event have included famous dogs and cats such as:
Uggie, the Jack Russell Terrier who played “Jack” in the award winning film The Artist; Charlie who starred as “Mr. Jinx” in Meet The Parents, and the cat who portrayed “Sprinkles” on NBC’s The Office.
Aragon will be visiting Capitol Hill along with CeCe Card, his personal assistant and handler. “Aragon and I are absolutely thrilled to be part of such a wonderful event promoting the importance of healthy people, healthy animals and a healthy planet,” says Card of the upcoming appearance. Celebrity stylist, Lisa M. Berman, of Laguna Beach, CA, will choose Aragon’s wardrobe selection for the event.
