GigOptix Inc. (OTCBB:GGOX) a leading provider of electronic engines for the optically connected digital world today announced the availability of the GX3240, a differential limiting amplifier in a 3x3mm QFN, developed in partnership with a leading Japanese telecom manufacturer for use in a 40G RZDQPSK receiver and with further applications in the microwave and instrumentation markets.

GigOptix won this customer’s design

based on GigOptix’s history of providing high speed, high performance amplifier designs in compact low power form factors. The GX3240 boasts a very compact 3x3mm QFN form factor with a 3dB bandwidth of over 27GHz, 700mVpp differential output and low power dissipation.

“The GX3240 is a very impressive device and represents significant advances on many levels,” commented Andrea Betti-Berutto, Chief Technology Officer of GigOptix. “The device’s QFN package makes it very manufacturing-friendly and its 27GHz bandwidth enables a wide number of demanding applications for our customers. The device was designed for the RZDQPSK telecom market which is seeing a lot of operator and vendor interest at the moment however, it can also be used in instrumentation markets where it provides a low power high speed buffer that is able to clean up and re-square high speed digital signals. The GX3240 now extends our plastic package QFN limiter family that includes the iT3011E & iT3018E from 10 GHz bandwidth to 27 GHz.”

“Telecom companies are continuing to invest in network infrastructure despite current economic conditions and are deploying 40G systems to support the increasing bandwidth demanded by consumers using bandwidth hungry applications such as Facebook and Hulu’s ‘over the top’ IP TV,” commented Scott Schube, Senior Analyst at Lightcounting. In their latest Transceiver and Optical Interconnects Market Forecast, Lightcounting predicts a robust 70% CAGR in the 40G market segment through 2013.

The GX3240 is sampling now and mass production is planned for early Q1 2010. Sample requests can be made through sales@gigoptix.com : mailto:sales@gigoptix.com .
