Brad Pitt is recruiting the help of L.A. architectural firm Graft to design a luxurious 5-star resort that will double as a place for awards ceremonies in Dubai, UAE. The middle eastern emirate has become so wealthy that it boasts the Burj Al Arab (pictured: above right) which is considered the grandest hotel in the world and billed as 7-stars. The city will also have the tallest skyscraper in the world.
Pitt teamed up with Graft in the past on the Pink House project above for the residents of New Orleans in the aftermath of Katrina. He reportedly became interested in the project while filming in New Orleans. He was overwhelmed by a CGI image of a pink house in
the lush surroundings of New Orleans. He saw the pink structure as a metaphor for the future home and hope of the newly homeless.
I'm wondering how the men who lost everything to the hurricane felt about moving into the hot-pink "projects". As if they didn't feel emasculated enough, it kind of seems like kicking someone when they're down.
This got me thinking - why did he and Angelina Jolie let news leak of their new $60million digs in France, and follow it up with this lavish project in one of the richest cities?
I'm not saying they shouldn't enjoy their spoils, but throwing their exorbitant spending habits and lifestyle into mainstream press could send out mixed messages to potential supporters of their emotional pleas for Cambodia, Vietnam, Ethiopia and whatever third world nation they plan to adopt from, give birth in, or "save" next.
Let's Goss:
Is Brad Pitt a hypocrite? Why, or why not
