- The San Diego Foundation has elected the following community leaders to its Board of Governors during its annual meeting on July 22, 2008:
-- Sandra Daley, M.D., associate chancellor and chief diversity officer, University of California San Diego
-- Doug G. Hegebarth, entrepreneur and business leader; chair of The San Diego Foundation's Organizational Success Program Working Group
and a member of the Strategic Planning Committee
-- Craig Irving, principal and co-founder of Irving Hughes; co-founder and chairman of the board of Confirmnet Corporation
-- Hollyce Phillips, founding member of the board of directors for the Carlsbad Charitable Foundation, Endow Carlsbad
-- Barbara A. Sawrey, Ph.D., associate vice chancellor, Undergraduate Education, University of California San Diego
The newly elected members are replacing outgoing members:
-- The Honorable Rafael A. Arreola, San Diego Superior Court Judge
-- Dennis Arriola, senior vice president and CFO, San Diego Gas & Electric and Southern California Gas Company
-- Judith Harris, community leader
-- Gary E. Jacobs, managing director, Jacobs Investment Company LLC
-- Daniel Sullivan, Ph.D., executive vice president, QUALCOMM Inc.
-- Elizabeth Y. Yamada, community leader.
The San Diego Foundation's Board of Governors is composed of 30 volunteers with diverse professional backgrounds who are involved in many community and charitable activities. The board oversees The Foundation in establishing policy, setting priorities and making final decisions to approve awards and grants.
