KEVIN FEDERLINE became the brunt of the joke at last night's (21NOV06) American Music Awards in Los Angeles when a lookalike was boxed up and dumped into the San Pedro, California docks.
Awards host JIMMY KIMMEL poked fun at the struggling rapper, calling him "the world's first no-hit wonder," before a Federline doppelganger was placed in a "soundproof box," wheeled offstage at the Shrine Auditorium, loaded onto a lorry and then unceremoniously thrown into the waters off San Pedro.
To add insult to injury, Federline's estranged wife, BRITNEY SPEARS, was then introduced as "The Bachelorette" as she stepped out in a figure-hugging silver-grey dress to announce the winner of the first award, Best Soul/R&B Female Artist.
Gum-chewing Spears had to take a moment before she could be heard above the applause as music's elite cheered their support.
