The Grenadier in Belgravia, London. Just one of the haunted pubs on Fancyapint.com
2009-10-23 12:17:55 - As haunted places go it seems that pubs are some of the spookiest places in Britain. This Halloween why not celebrate it by spending some time in one of Britain’s haunted pubs.

Fancyapint.com, the pub review site, has a number of pubs listed that are supposedly haunted and have spooky tales to tell. Here are five of the most popular ones:

The Grenadier in Belgravia
A former hang-out of Madonna and Guy Ritchie and the officer’s mess for the Duke of Wellington, The Grenadier is supposedly haunted by a phantom Guards officer.
The story reports

that after losing at cards the officer was soundly thrashed by his fellow players before falling (or being pushed) down the stairs.

Ye Olde Black Boy in Hull
A former Smugglers’ den, Ye Olde Black Boy is supposedly haunted and calls itself ‘Hull’s most haunted pub’. It even holds séances with ‘Psychic Sue’ every Saturday night.

The Angel in Lymington
The hotel was formerly an old coaching Inn and used as a hostelry by the local shipbuilders. It is said to have two ghosts – one is a coachman who stands looking out of the window in the kitchen and one is of a seaman, who is tall and dressed in a naval coat.

Shipman’s in Northampton
Reports have been made about Poltergeist activity from the ghost of a former Bar Manager. Harry Franklin is said to have committed suicide there in a very gruesome way.

Llandoger Trow in Bristol
A haunting by a limping ghost. Reports are of the sound of a step and a foot being dragged. Suspicions are that this may be the ghost of a boy called Pierre, who died in the pub.
Other reports have come from staff that spotted figures in different parts of the pub on CCTV cameras, but when they went to ask them to leave, they had vanished.

Many of these pubs and others on Fancyapint.com will be holding special Halloween themed events, so make sure you visit the site and use the handy ‘Let’s Meet Here’ function to invite your mates out for a spooky drink. Just make sure you order a ‘spirit chaser’.
