Factrichi 100 Varsh recollects the Legendary Dev Anand’s most acclaimed film “Guide” only on IBN-Lokmat

. The pinnacle of his career came with the film “Guide” (1965), a film based on RK Narayan's novel, in which Dev Anand played the male lead opposite the classical Indian dancer turned actor Waheeda Rehmaji. During the golden age of Indian cinema, in the 1950s and 1960s, Dev Anand ruled the silver screen along with superstars like Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar. He was popular for his urbanity and quirky mannerisms. This week Factrichi 100 Varsh recalls his critically acclaimed film “Guide” on Sunday, 2nd December 2012, at 1:30 pm and 9:30 pm only on IBN-Lokmat.
Arguably one of the most polished artists to grace the Indian scenes, Dev Anand rose from a theatre actor only to become one of

the most glamorous stars we have ever seen. His association with theatre inspired him to become an actor and he was soon offered the lead role in “Hum Ek Hain” followed by many other super hits. In 1965 he acted in the cult film “Guide” which was one of the milestones of his career. The film talks about the incredible saga of love and affection between a Guide (Dev Anand) and a Married woman (Waheeda Rehman). Critics claimed the film was one of the masterpieces of Indian Cinema. Dev Anand also won seven Film Fare awards for his performance in “Guide”.
This Legendary actor was also honored with Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award given by the Government of India along with Dada Saheb Phalke award.
