"Pure plug-and-play simplicity", commented Joel Durham Jr., Advisor at ExtremeTech.com, in a recent review of Accordance Systems ARAID 2200 SATA hard disk RAID controller for PCs. The ARAID 2200 maintains two copies of hard disk data at all times so data is never lost and computers do not crash in the event of a hard disk failure.
The

ARAID creates a RAID 1 array on the fly from an existing drive, with no danger of losing data on the original drive. This contrasts with typical RAID controllers that require the user to destroy, and then create an array from scratch. ARAID provides RAID hard disk data protection to any PC or server. No software is required to operate the ARAID. All software is embedded on the device in firmware. The ARAID 2200 connects to a computer"s hard disk drive port and behaves just like a single hard disk.
"We are pleased to have such a positive review of the ARAID 2200 by ExtremeTech.com," says Steve Johnson, president of Accordance USA. "Disk failure rates for PCs are increasing to an annual rate approaching 6%. ARAID 2200 provides optimal data protection for any computer."
A typical RAID 1 array is not considered to be a backup solution because when data replicated it can be exposed to viruses and spyware. The ARAID is different because it enables the user to quickly remove a drives and replace it with another drive without interrupting computer operation. The removed drive can be treated as a backup and taken off-site for secure storage. The ARAID 2200 recognizes the newly inserted drive and immediately begins to mirror all data to it.
No software is required to operate the ARAID. All software is embedded on the device in firmware. The ARAID connects to the hard disk drive port and behaves just like a single hard disk. Because no drivers are required, a ARAID 2200 device can be shared with systems running Windows, Mac OS, Linux, Solaris, BSD, or any RTOS. All BIOS and operating systems view the ARAID 2200 as a simple drive and treat it accordingly. There is no need for drivers or any other applications.
The front panel LCD of the ARAID 2200 constantly displays drive and unit status. It warns the user of drive failure, abnormal temperatures, fan failure, etc. The ARAID 2200 has a quiet fan that draws cool air directly over the drives and is useful for hot-running 10,000 RPM drives.
The ARAID 2200 provides allows easy access to drive data. A drive from an ARAID 2200 can be carried to another computer and used without an ARAID (connected directly to the disk controller, for example). Drives created by other RAID controllers can only be used with a specific RAID controller.
The ARAID 2200 internal SATA hard drives are $395/each. eSATA, SATA and USB external devices are $495/each. For more information go to the Accordance website at: www.accordancesystems.com.
