www.researchandmarkets.com - Research and Markets (www.researchandmarkets.com/research/1b3691/accelerated_equipm) has announced the addition of IE Market Research Corp.'s new report "Accelerated equipment upgrade cycles and skills needed to maintain networks are the two biggest challenges to enterprise network upgrade strategies at Global 2000 enterprises" to their offering.

In this report, key results from the

2008 Global Enterprise Telecommunications Survey are presented and the report discusses the current state of network upgrades among the Forbes Global 2000 companies. One chart presents the ranking of reasons behind network upgrades at the Forbes Global 2000 companies. Given the rapidly increasing network demands, it is expected that enterprises will respond by adding packet and applications into their networks. This survey also finds that network refresh cycles are shortening. Based on all of this information, the report gives strategy recommendations to both Global 2000 enterprises and vendors of packet and applications.

Infrastructure and operations teams at some of the largest companies in the world worry about security, application rollouts, new virtualization architectures, and usage that are stressing networks beyond capacity. As network usage begins to go through the roof, the constraint is not bandwidth, it is latency. As a result, network managers at Global 2000 enterprises will need to focus their network investments on both packet delivery (i.e., transport) and application delivery (i.e., performance) equipment. This strategy will provide the necessary bandwidth and latency enhancements to prepare networks for the coming growth in both content and applications.

However, this focus on transport and latency will mean that IT departments at Global 2000 companies need to also prepare for accelerated refresh cycles for network equipment and the extra resources needed to maintain networks.

Key Topics Covered:

-- Security, application, and data center trends are pushing network upgrades
