The Emirates Authority for standardization and Metrology (ESMA) has effectively participated in World Future Energy Exhibition (WFES), as a part of the World Energy Future Summit, held in Abu Dhabi on 20 January and ended on 22 January 2014, where ESMA has presented a detailed explanation of its newest services of energy saving strategy in United Arab Emirates.
During the three-day exhibition, ESMA displayed five programs, included the upgraded and expanded Air Conditioner program, the energy efficiency program for lighting products, the energy efficiency program for heaters, the energy efficiency program for washers and driers, and the energy efficiency program for refrigerators and freezers. One of the main goals of this exhibition is to raise the public awareness towards saving
the energy consumption and maintaining environmental sustainability.
Commenting on this event, Mr. Abdullah Al-Maeeni, Director of Conformity Affairs Department at ESMA, said “We have several programs in the field of energy efficiency since we are seeking to achieve the sustainability for the world energy future. It was our pleasure to participate in this exhibition, and present our programs to the public audience, companies, and other organizations. Also, we shared our expertise, and futuristic goals, and introduced the Emirates model of energy saving which has become a role model."
Al-Maeeni also added "Emirates is among the earliest countries that applied the rating system for electrical devices; the system has already grasped the interest of several countries who might seek to adopt it as well. In addition, ESMA's main concern was to explain the programs to the private companies and suppliers of electrical products in UAE since it serves the environmental sustainability project."
The Head of Technical office at ESMA Mr. Ahmad Saif Al Ali, also emphasized that ESMA's participation in the exhibition aimed at reinforcing the mutual goals between ESMA and WFES along the productive cooperation between governmental entities, private sector and individuals.
Visitors of ESMA's booth expressed their satisfaction about the services." The services presented are perfect and were so useful especially the rating system program which will help me to decide which electrical device to buy based on its consumption of energy level" said Badriya Al Mazen. Eng Abdulrahman Al Amoody, also said" the presentation of services was very accurate, and I appreciate the support given by UAE government to ESMA to achieve this progress".
Worth mentioning, ESMA has displayed Air Conditioner energy efficiency program, during last year exhibition, as it was considered the most used device in UAE especially during summer. Currently, ESMA works on five more energy efficiency programs to be presented by next year.
