TOM CRUISE and filmmaker J.J. ABRAMS are to team up for another MISSION: = IMPOSSIBLE.
Abrams, who directed Cruise in the third Mission: Impossible, has signe= d on for the fourth film in the franchise, which Cruise will star in and = produce.
And Paramount studio bosses already have a release date - the film will= go up against The Hangover sequel on Memorial Day weekend next year (11)= ..

WALDROP’S REGRETS OVER TAYLOR’S DEATH

TWISTED TOWER DIRE rocker SCOTT WALDROP regrets not making peace with his= former bandmate ANTHONY ‘TONY’ TAYLOR before he died in a traffic accide= nt on Saturday (06Feb10).
Taylor, 42, lost control of his Harley Davidson motorcycle and crashed = into a palm tree in Naples, Florida. He was transported to a hospital in = Fort Myers, where he was pronounced dead.
Now grieving guitarist Waldrop is urging fans to reconcile with estrang= ed loved ones - because he’s filled with remorse after failing to patch u= p his differences with Taylor, who left the heavy metal band years ago.
He says, "I’m still having trouble believing it. He and I wrote a lot o= f music together, travelled all over and even worked construction togethe= r outside of the band over the course of 10 years.
"Thanks for everyone’s condolences, but please keep his wife and kids i= n your thoughts/prayers as their loss is unimaginable to me. He was one o= f my closest friends (like a big brother), but, after personal problems, = he split from the band and moved to Florida three years ago. I hadn’t spo= ken with him since.

KASABIAN STAR DEBUTS ENGLAND SOCCER SHIRT

KASABIAN star TOM MEIGHAN landed the honour of showing off England’s away= soccer strip at a concert in Paris, France on Monday night (08Feb10).
The frontman bounded onto the stage at the Olympia Theatre, wearing the= new top, which is a throwback to the one the nation’s 1966 team wore whe= n they won the World Cup.
The shirt will debut at the 2010 Football World Cup in South Africa.
Meighan tells the NME, "I’m the first person to wear it (shirt) which i= s crazy. They said they wanted to take it away from the footballers for o= nce and do something up to date. They wanted to combine with rock ‘n’ rol= l… I’m honoured to wear it." JUDD STANDS UP FOR SWIFT

Country music veteran-turned-activist NAOMI JUDD has thrown her support b= ehind TAYLOR SWIFT after the young LOVE STORY singer was heavily criticis= ed for her performance with STEVIE NICKS at the Grammy Awards.
Swift’s off-key duet with the Fleetwood Mac star has been put down to n= erves and sound problems onstage at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, an= d Judd - the mother of actress Ashley and country singer Wynonna - has th= e four-time Grammy winner’s back.
In a letter to the editor of The Tennessean, Judd, calls Swift a "dazzl= ing performer" and attributes Swift’s less-than-perfect Grammy performanc= e to her just having a bad night.

TYLER: ‘LED ZEP DIDN’T NEED A SINGER LIKE ME’

STEVEN TYLER has confirmed he tried out as ROBERT PLANT’s replacement in = LED ZEPPELIN - and he’ll never forget the experience.
Aerosmith bandmate Joe Perry recently revealed Tyler secretly auditione= d for the supergroup - but rehearsals were "shambolic" because the singer= wasn’t familiar with Led Zep’s catalogue and was under the impression th= e classic rockers were recording new material.
But Tyler insists the rehearsals were a great experience: "The kid in m= e was dying. I got to sing every song from Black Dog up and down and I’ll= never forget it as long as I live." BLUNT JOINS VIRTUOSO QUARTET AT FILM AWARDS

EMILY BLUNT was named a last-minute recipient of a 2010 Chopin Virtuoso A= ward - after GABOUREY SIDIBE was unable to attend the Santa Barbara Inter= national Film Festival in California.
Sidibe was selected for her stand-out performance in Precious: Based on= the Novel Push by Sapphire, alongside Carey Mulligan (An Education), Sao= irse Ronan (The Lucky Bones) and Michael Stuhlbarg (A Serious Man) to rec= eive the prize, which recognises emerging actors in Hollywood.

ROBBINS & SARSGAARD TO PLAY FATHER AND SON IN GREEN HORNET

RYAN REYNOLDS’ new GREEN HORNET film has become a star-studded affair - T= IM ROBBINS and PETER SARSGAARD have signed on to play father and son in t= he film.

Rocker SAMMY HAGAR’s manager has dismissed reports linking the ex-VAN HAL= EN star to the vacant frontman slot in AEROSMITH.
Guitarist Joe Perry and his bandmates have been on the hunt for a new s= inger since Steven Tyler announced he was taking a hiatus from the band l= ast year (09), and Hagar has emerged as the latest frontrunner - but the = Why Can’t This Be Love singer’s manager insists there’s no truth to the r= umours.

DALTREY BLINDED BY THE LIGHTS AT SUPER BOWL SHOW

Rocker ROGER DALTREY fears he’ll have a very fuzzy memory of THE WHO’s Su= per Bowl showdown on Sunday (07Feb10) - because he couldn’t see a thing.

JOE JACKSON: ‘MICHAEL WAS VICTIM OF MURDER GANG’

JOE JACKSON has gone public with a conspiracy theory surrounding his son = MICHAEL’s death last summer (Jun09) - he’s convinced the King of Pop’s do= ctor was part of a group out to kill the singer.
Appearing on news show Larry King Live on Monday night (08Feb10) - hour= s after his son’s physician Conrad Murray pleaded not guilty to involunta= ry manslaughter charges related to the death of Michael Jackson - the Jac= kson family patriarch revealed he was disappointed the doctor hadn’t been= charged with murder.
Jackson told King that a murder charge might make Murray think twice ab= out protecting others who may have been involved in the King of Pop trage= dy.
He said, "I was looking for justice, and justice, to me, would be a mur= der charge.
"To me, he’s (Murray) just a fall guy. There’s other people, I think, i= nvolved with this whole thing. But I think that if he’s interrogated, he = would come clean and tell everything he knows." Joe Jackson confirmed reports that his son lived in fear of an attempt = on his life during his final months, while planning his comeback shows in= London: "He was afraid to even do all of these shows, because he was afr= aid that he wouldn’t get a chance to finish all of the show… Even his k= ids say that he had told them that he would be murdered." Joe was in court in Los Angeles on Monday, where he faced the man he be= lieved murdered his son. He was joined by his wife Katherine, sons Tito a= nd Jermaine and daughter La Toya.

LIL WAYNE’S PRISON SENTENCE POSTPONED

Prison-bound rapper [LIL WAYNE] has won three more weeks of freedom after= a New York judge agreed to postpone his sentencing until after he comple= tes a series of dental surgery procedures.
The Lollipop hitmaker, real name Dwayne Carter, Jr., was expected to be= handed a one year jail term for weapons possession on Tuesday (09Feb10) = - and many felt sure he’d start the sentence straight away.
He pleaded guilty to the charge in October (09) after striking a plea d= eal with prosecutors and returned to Manhattan state Supreme Court on Tue= sday afternoon to be formally sentenced.
But Justice Charles Soloman agreed to delay the punishment after Wayne’= s lawyer, Stacey Richman, requested extra time so the rapper could go ahe= ad with an operation on his teeth scheduled for Friday (12Feb10) - and ha= ve time to recover.
Richman claimed Wayne had planned to complete the surgery prior to Tues= day, but his dentist had been away from his office in Miami, Florida, whe= re the star lives.
Soloman set his sentencing for 2 March (10) but warned it would not be = pushed back any further.
Speaking after the brief hearing, Richman declined to specify the natur= e of her client’s surgery, but said, "It is a medical situation that… h= as to be addressed."

OSCARS TO BE PERSONALISED AT THE GOVERNOR’S BALL

Oscar winners won’t have to wait to get their awards personalised this ye= ar (10) - nameplates will be added while they dine after the Academy Awar= ds.
In previous years, Oscar winners had to send their awards to the Academ= y in the weeks following the ceremony, so engraved nameplates could be af= fixed to the statuettes.
But, next month (Mar10), the Oscars will be personalised at the post-ce= remony Governors Ball, which will be take place at the Grand Ballroom at = the Hollywood & Highland Center in Los Angeles.
Academy Award winners will be invited to enter a specially designed are= a, where Academy technicians will affix the personalised nameplates to ea= ch Oscar.
In preparation for the night, the Academy will create 197 nameplates, o= ne for each nominee in every category. The engraving will include the nom= inee=E2=80=99s name, category, film title and year. After the winners ha= ve been announced, the unused nameplates will be recycled.

RENNER’S MAKE-UP PLAN

THE HURT LOCKER star JEREMY RENNER had an unexpected back-up career plann= ed before he became a successful actor - he was a trained make-up artist.
The star received his first Oscar nomination earlier this month (Jan10)= for his role in Kathryn Bigelow’s war film.
But the 39 year old can still recall playing with make-up pallets and m= ascara as a struggling actor - before his role as a U.S. Army soldier sky= rocketed him to international fame.
