The Los Angeles Galaxy player agreed to provide the hip-hop style middle section in a re-recording of the British band’s 1990 football anthem World In Motion.
The track would have been used as England’s official World Cup song - but bosses at the U.K.’s Football Association (FA) stepped in at the last minute and ruled I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! presenters Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly should be used instead.
New Order bass player Peter Hook tells British radio station TalkSport, "I think for the last World Cup, (late music mogul) Tony (Wilson) lined up Beckham to do the rap and we were going to redo the song. But the FA then reconsidered it, saying ‘No, no, no, we’re going with Ant and Dec.’ "I would have thought that was a hell of a chance. I would have loved to have heard Beckham do a rap and he was up for it."

Teenage pop sensation JUSTIN BIEBER made two female fans’ dreams come true on Monday morning (12Oct09) when he serenaded them onstage during a live TV performance in New York City.
Fans of the 15 year old, who was discovered by R&B superstar Usher, braved the chilly temperatures and flocked to the Big Apple’s Rockefeller Plaza to catch a free outdoor concert by the Canadian singer during America’s Today Show.

Rap moguls DR. DRE and JIMMY IOVINE are teaming up with computer wizards at Hewlett Packard to design their own laptop, specially designed for making music.
The HP Envy 15 Beats notebook is the result of a collaboration with Iovine and Dre’s Beats Electronics venture.
The computer will cost a hefty $2,299 (£1,540), but will come with a free pair of Dre-designed headphones.

SOLANGE KNOWLES was left fuming on Sunday (11Oct09) when thieves stole her bicycle and handbag.
The singer was saddened to find her yellow bike missing when she awoke on Sunday and immediately took to her Twitter.com blog to complain about her stolen wheels and hope for revenge on whoever committed the crime.
She wrote, "Thank you whoever stole my bag and my fave yellow bye-sick-cool (bicycle). I hope you ride it really fast then trip on a stick and fall.
"Ok. I don’t want them to really hurt anything when they fall. Just a scratch or two." Knowles reveals the bicycle was a present from her good friends: "That bike was a gift from two of my besties (best friends)… & I’ve had it for some good years. I’ll never be able to replace the memorys (sic)." But she is trying to remain positive about her loss, adding: "Thank God they didn’t steal me. There’s always a bright side." It is unknown where Knowles was staying when the incident occurred.

Heavy rockers SLAYER were forced to cancel a concert in Australia on Sunday (11Oct09) after frontman TOM ARAYA lost his voice.
The band is currently down under touring with fellow metal band Megadeth.
Araya fell ill during a performance in Melbourne on Saturday night (10Oct09), when he found himself unable to speak or sing onstage - forcing other bandmembers to step in and take on his vocal duties.
After the gig, Araya’s doctor diagnosed him with Laryngitis and ordered him to rest.
Speaking after the news broke, Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine told Blabbermouth.net, "I was saddened to hear that Tom Araya won’t be able to perform (on Sunday night). They are going to proceed to Perth to wait for us and (do) the last show here in Australia." Both bands are due to perform at Perth’s Challenge Stadium on Tuesday night (13Oct09).
Araya is the latest in a list of performers struggling with throat problems; Saxon star Biff Byford, Miley Cyrus and Paramore’s Hayley Williams have all been forced to axe gigs this month (Oct09) because of illness.

Grief-stricken BOYZONE are preparing to reunite with tragic singer STEPHEN GATELY one last time - they will reportedly accompany his body back to the U.K.
The bandmates - Ronan Keating, Shane Lynch, Mikey Graham and Keith Duffy - flew to Majorca following Gately’s death at his home on the Spanish island on Saturday (10Oct09).
They are comforting his distraught partner Andrew Cowles and are preparing for a poignant return to Britain with Gately’s body later this week, according to the Daily Telegraph newspaper.
A post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death is due to be held on Tuesday (13Oct09), after which the body will be released for repatriation to Ireland.
On Monday (12Oct09), Gately’s family blasted reports the star died after an eight-hour drinking binge in the Majorcan resort of Palma.

MATT LUCAS has quit his role in West End play PRICK UP YOUR EARS for good following the suicide of his ex-husband.
The Little Britain funnyman was devastated by the shock death of his former partner Kevin McGee, who was found hanged at his apartment in Edinburgh, Scotland last week (05Oct09).
Lucas was too upset to face performing in the production in the subsequent days - and show bosses have now confirmed he will not return to the role.
His part as Keith Halliwell in the play will be taken over by actor Con O’Neill.
A statement from show producers reads, "Given the sad news that Matt Lucas has recently received, and the role he was playing, it is understandable that he could not return to play Halliwell at this time and our thoughts are with him.
"Ongoing support for our production from audiences at the Comedy Theatre over the past week has been wonderful and given the huge investment from our cast, director, writer and production team, we are delighted that the brilliant Con O’Neill is joining our company so that the show that we are so proud of can complete its West End run." Lucas and McGee married in a lavish ceremony in 2006, only to divorce earlier this year (09).

SUSAN SARANDON was so relaxed about her actress daughter stripping off for a role in raunchy TV drama CALIFORNICATION, she actually encouraged her to take the part.
Eva Amurri, Sarandon’s daughter with Italian director Franco Amurri, played Jackie, a woman who studied during the day and worked as a stripper by night, on a recent episode of David Duchovny’s hit TV series.
And Sarandon insists she had no qualms about the 24 year old getting naked onscreen because she knew Amurri would enjoy herself.
Speaking before the show aired in the U.S. on Sunday (11Oct09), she told the New York Daily News, "I think if she were playing something that was going to be really hard for her psychologically or damaging, I’d be more concerned, but she had a really good time with the sex thing.
"She plays a woman who, as far as I can tell, is really in charge of her life and is not a victim. So it sounded to me like it would be a blast. I’ve already seen little bits and pieces of some of the nudity and she looks beautiful."

Hollywood star AL PACINO traded sex for free board when he was living as a struggling actor in Sicily, Italy.
The Godfather actor spent some time in his family’s native Sicily in 1960 after dropping out of school to pursue his big screen dreams.
He found himself struggling to make amends on his travels and decided to sell his body to keep a roof over his head, according to the New York Post’s gossip columnist Cindy Adams.
But Pacino, 69, admits he often awoke to regret his decision.
He says, "At 20, I lived in Sicily by selling the only asset I had - my body. An older woman traded food and housing in return for sex. I woke mornings not really loving myself."

Rockers KINGS OF LEON are at war over royalty payments - bassist JARED FOLLOWILL has accused his brother CALEB of attempting to cash in on the band’s next album.
The Sex On Fire hitmakers scored a massive international hit with their last record, Only By The Night, which became one of the highest-selling albums of 2008.
But the success has fuelled the notoriously volatile relationship between the family band, and Jared Followill admits their latest fight is over song-writing credits for their upcoming fifth album.
He says, "We started seriously writing the songs when we got back home from tour. I got a call from Caleb going, ‘I’m sitting here writing the next album by myself.’ And we’re like, ‘Oh no, you’re not!’ "We ended up going to his house so that when the record comes out he can’t go, ‘Dude, I’m getting 70 per cent of this s**t.’" While guitarist Matthew adds, "We basically go to his house for the royalties." Jared admits he has always found it difficult working with his brother, especially when they first formed the band: "Caleb was really weird when we first started. Everything that I thought was charming about us, he wanted us to lie about.
"For me, it’s hard even having an opinion on this band. If I wasn’t involved, I can’t imagine liking us a lot, just because I only control 25 per cent of it. In every song there’s something I wish I could change. Each one of us are like that, though."

The family of tragic BOYZONE star STEPHEN GATELY is fuming over rumours the singer drank himself to death on a boozy night out on Friday (09Oct09).
The 33 year old was found dead on Saturday (11Oct09) at his home in Majorca, Spain, which he shared with his longterm partner Andrew Cowles.
Initial reports claimed the star had passed away in his sleep, but British tabloid The Sun fuelled speculation by claiming Gately had indulged in a drinking binge in the hours before his death and subsequently choked to death on his own vomit.
But the allegations have angered Gately’s relatives, who insist the rumours can’t be true.
Solicitor Gerald Kean, speaking on behalf of the Gately family, says, "Some members of the family are upset that there is a suggestion he was on a drinking binge. A family member spoke to Stephen at 12.30am local time in Spain and he was on great form. He was getting ready to go out - he wasn’t ready.
"He was heading out with Andrew to Palma. We are suggesting he couldn’t have been in Palma much before 2am. We know he was back at the apartment before 6am. He really would only have been in Palma maybe two-and-a-half hours.
"We’re not suggesting for a moment he didn’t have a few drinks. He was going out to enjoy himself. But the suggestion this is a drinking binge is unfair and this is not the case." Kean also shot down suggestions that police suspect anyone else was involved in Gately’s death.
He adds, "There is also a suggestion that the police are looking for a third man. I have spoken to the authorities and the embassy and there is no indication that that is the case at all. It’s not suicide, certainly. No drugs were involved, and there’s no third party involved. I think it’s a very sad case. We have lost a wonderful, wonderful man."

U.S. funnyman JIMMY KIMMEL is laughing again after his split from fellow comic SARAH SILVERMAN - he’s dating a writer on his hit show.
Kimmel broke up with Silverman earlier this year (09) after five years together, but reconciled on TV - only to split again a few months later.
But the 41 year old has moved on - he has been romancing longtime ABC staffer Molly McNearney, who writes for Jimmy Kimmel Live!, for several months.
Kimmel ended his 14-year to marriage to his wife Gina in 2002.

British reality TV star KERRY KATONA has been cleared of claims she assaulted her accountant - police are not pressing charges against her.
The 29 year old was taken in for questioning by U.K. cops in August (09) following accusations of assault and criminal damage against David McHugh.
The allegations came just days after she was cautioned by police for possessing drugs following British tabloid the News of the World’s publication of snaps of her snorting cocaine.
Police officials have now confirmed no charges will be brought against Katona in relation to the incident.
A spokeswoman for Cheshire Police says, "Following an investigation by Cheshire Constabulary and advice from the Crown Prosecution Service in relation to an allegation of assault that occurred in Warrington on 26 August, no further action will be taken in respect of the 29-year-old female who was arrested in relation to the incident."

KANYE WEST’s sudden interest in Hinduism has been welcomed by America’s religious leaders, who hope the troubled rapper finds the spiritual guidance he seeks at an ashram in India.
After staging a bizarre protest at the MTV Video Music Awards and pulling out of tour dates with Lady GaGa, the embattled star has announced he’s hoping to chill out at the Sri Aurobindo Ashram in Pondicherry - and Hindu leaders are urging West to take his time out seriously.
Rajan Zed, the president of the Universal Society of Hinduism, has invited West to study with him and other leading Hindus upon his return to America: "West should put into practice what he learns at the ashram. If he needs any help in further exploring Hinduism, I would gladly guide him." After all his troubles, Zed insists the ashram trip will be "a long needed break for him".
The Hindu leader adds, "This ashram is located in a small coastal town in South India. Sri Aurobindo was a philosopher-yogi who died in 1950. In his view, man, at present, lives mostly in his surface mind, life and body. There is an inner being within which pushes him to a constant pursuit of a greater beauty, harmony, power and knowledge."

Legendary singer/songwriter PAUL ANKA isn’t a fan of MICHAEL JACKSON’s new song - because it’s "ripped off" from a tune he co-wrote with the King of Pop in 1983.
The administrators of Jackson’s estate acknowledged This is It is a rehash of Anka’s I Never Heard after the crooner went public with his feelings about the tune, which was passed off as a Jackson hit when it was leaked online over the weekend.
John Branca tells TMZ.com, "We acknowledge that Michael and Paul wrote this song together." And his fellow administrator, John McClain, has told Anka they’ll do whatever he needs them to do to make sure the world knows the history of the track.
Anka tells the website McClain knew Jackson couldn’t have written the song alone, because "it’s not his style".
The singer/songwriter says, "(He said) ‘We’ll give you whatever you want; whatever it takes, we’ll do the right thing.’" Anka wrote the song with Jackson at his studio in Carmel, California. He claims he was hoping to use the track on his duets album, Walk a Fine Line, but the King of Pop "stole the tapes" from the studio.
Anka contacted lawyers who ironically represented him and his songwriting partner and threatened them with a lawsuit if he didn’t get the tapes back. Anka got them back but insists Jackson made a copy of the tapes and simply recorded his vocal over the original and retitled the tune.
The song, I Never Heard, has already been recorded by little-known artist Safire.

Rapper T.I.’s longtime girlfriend TAMEKA ‘TINY’ COTTLE has paid tribute to slain ASHLEY ‘AJ’ JEWELL after confirming she once dated the reality TV star.
Jewell, who was engaged to Cottle’s former Xscape bandmate Kandi Burruss, was killed after suffering serious head injuries following a late night brawl in Atlanta, Georgia earlier this month (Oct09).
In a note of condolence to Jewell’s family and Burruss, Cottle tells AllHipHop.com, "I did date him years ago and he was a cool guy.
"AJ was a very sweet person who has been a friend for quite some time and had a lot of positive things taking place in his life for it all to be taken away from him so quickly. (He) will be missed.
"My family and I will continue to keep his family and most of all his children in our prayers. I am praying for my friend Kandi that God gives her the strength to endure. She is a very strong person and I know God will see her through." Burruss and Jewell appeared together on U.S. show The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
One man has been charged with voluntary manslaughter in connection to Jewell’s death.

Singer JESSE MCCARTNEY was left red faced on Sunday (11Oct09) when he forgot the words to America’s National Anthem at a NASCAR race in California.
The star was performing at the Pepsi 500 in Fontana when he fluffed a line of The Star-Spangled Banner.
McCartney has since taken to his Twitter.com blog, blaming nerves for his embarrassing mistake.
He wrote, "Here at the Nascar race! So much fun! Can’t believe I forgot the words to the Anthem! I’ve performed it 100 times. Bad nerves today I guess." The Prime Minister of Belize has formally appealed to the Governor of New York to pardon his son, incarcerated rapper SHYNE, and allow him to remain in the U.S.
Shyne is currently being held in a federal immigration detention centre following his release from New York’s Woodbourne Correctional Facility last Tuesday (06Oct09), where he served more than eight years for a 1999 club shooting.
He was convicted of first degree assault and reckless endangerment in 2001 in relation to the incident, which left a woman with serious facial injuries.
The hip-hop star, real name Jamal Barrow, is now facing deportation back to his native Belize but his dad Dean Barrow reveals he’s been pulling in as many favours as he can to help his son stay in America.
Barrow Sr. has even written a letter to New York Governor David Paterson requesting Shyne be officially pardoned for his conviction to avoid deportation - but admits he is still waiting to hear back from the politician.
He says, "Obviously all sorts of things are happening in the States and it is clear a move is afoot to deport him and it is also clear that he is seeking to resist that, but I am not sure where the legal processes are at this juncture." "I have not had a response. I have spoken to people close to the Governor and I have been assured that the letter has been received and that it is under active consideration. But I can’t say that I am able to call in any favours such that would guarantee that he is able to remain in the States." Officials from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement are expected to make a decision on Shyne’s future later this week (begs12Oct09).
