ANKA PROMISED 50 PER CENT OF THIS IS IT ROYALTIES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:48 pm

Legendary singer/songwriter PAUL ANKA will reap half the profits from MICHAEL JACKSON’s first posthumous single THIS IS IT - after the King of Pop’s estate conceded he co-wrote the track.
Anka spoke out against Sony’s decision to use the song, which he co-wrote with Jackson back in 1983, following the track’s midnight release on Monday (12Oct09).
This Is It is a rehash of Anka’s song I Never Heard, and the late star’s administrators quickly confirmed it is part owned by Anka.
A rep for the estate said, "We acknowledge that Michael and Paul wrote this song together." According to the New York Daily News, Jackson’s administrators approached Anka’s lawyers to offer him 50 per cent of the single’s revenue after he threatened the estate with legal action.

ALLEY BLASTS TABLOID’S ‘FAT’ REPORT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 10:42 pm

Actress KIRSTIE ALLEY has blasted a tabloid report suggesting she "collapsed" and "broke down in tears" over her ballooning weight.
The former Cheers star has battled the bulge for years and was until recently a spokesmodel for U.S. weightloss company Jenny Craig - after slimming down.
But recent photos of the actress show she has piled on the pounds again, and earlier this week (begs28Sep09), a National Enquirer article suggested Alley had checked into the Cal-a-Vie health spa in California last month (Sep09) to seek professional help after losing control of her diet and watching her weight "soar to a record 250 pounds".
The tabloid even went so far as to suggest Alley’s condition had become life threatening.
A source said, "Her breakdown was a blessing in disguise - it was the wake-up call she needed. She realised she had to take drastic measures or she could die." But Alley has fired back at the erroneous reports, insisting she only went to the spa to "jump start" her exercise programme.
In a series of posts on her Twitter.com blog on Thursday (01Oct09), Alley wrote: "I DID NOT SEEK "PROFESSIONAL" HELP.. I have NEVER in my life weighed one ounce more that 228 pounds." Another ‘tweet’ read, "NO BREAKDOWN… NO CLOSE SOURCE… DID NOT GAIN BACK 105LBS (pounds)…"

50 CENT APOLOGISES FOR WEST ‘GAY TOUR’ JIBES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:48 am

Rapper 50 CENT has apologised for comments suggesting KANYE WEST and LADY GAGA’s now defunct tour was for gay people - insisting he didn’t mean to cause any offence.
The In Da Club hitmaker took aim at West over his plans to tour with the Poker Face singer, telling New York radio host Angie Martinez that the hip-hop star targets the gay community to sell records.
He quipped, "I have nothing against them, but he’s cool with them. He goes, drops his video off to them. Remember 808s & Heartbreak? Where’d he premiere it? Ellen DeGeneres. He went there to premiere his video. He’s conscious of the gay community and wants them to buy his CDs." 50 Cent added that West and Gaga’s Fame Kills tour, which was cancelled without explanation on Thursday (01Oct09), was the "gay tour".
But after gay rights groups slammed the comments as homophobic, the rapper has taken to his website to insist his words were taken out of context.
He says, "During an interview with Angie Martinez yesterday, certain comments I made were taken entirely out of context.
"When I referred to the Lady Gaga tour as ‘the gay tour,’ I was basically repeating what I thought she had referred to the tour in the past.
"It was not my intention to offend anyone. I don’t have a problem with anyone’s lifestyle and have no issue with Lady Gaga. She makes great music." It was not known why the Fame Kills tour was scrapped as WENN went to press.

50 CENT HITS BACK AT JAY-Z’S RADIO COMMENTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:45 am

Rapper 50 CENT has lashed out at JAY-Z’s comments insisting the IN DA CLUB hitmaker is not a person to be scared of.
The 99 Problems superstar was quizzed over his thoughts on Kanye West’s notorious stage storming at the MTV Video Music Awards in September (09), when he interrupted Taylor Swift’s Best Female Video acceptance speech to make it clear he believed Beyonce was the real winner of the prize.
In the interview with BBC DJ Trevor Nelson, he was asked whether he thought West would have acted the same way if the award’s recipient was toughguy rapper 50 Cent.
Jay-Z angrily answered: "I think he (West) would have done that if that was 50 Cent. No one is scared of 50 Cent. I want everyone to be clear. No one is scared of 50 Cent." And 50 Cent is fuming Jay-Z seemingly thinks so little of him - insisting none of his contemporaries would have dared poke fun at him when he was accepting an award.
He explains, "When he (Jay-Z) has to say no one is scared of 50 Cent, it’s because the public is responding to his punk presentation. Kanye wouldn’t take the trophy from me and neither would Jay-Z."

RASCAL: ‘STABBING WAS MY FAULT’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:54 pm

DIZZEE RASCAL has accepted partial responsibility for his near-fatal stabbing - because he stood up to his attackers and refused to be harassed.
The British rapper was terrified after four thugs began chasing him in Ayia Napa, Cyprus in 2003 - but he decided to defend himself from the gang and was knifed six times.
Now he’s opened up about the frightening experience, insisting it was his experiences battling violence and petty crime during his youth in East London that prompted him to stand up for himself He says, "It was all in slow motion. It was partly my fault. I got off my bike doing the bravery thing when I should have just sped off. But I don’t like to walk away. I don’t like to be picked on. Growing up where I did you learn to fight." Rascal, real name Dylan Kwabena Mills, has only just begun to move on from the stabbing and has started to make lighter music: "Getting stabbed, it’s not glamorous. It was a bad time. I had internal bleeding in my chest so I was coughing up blood all the time, I was on a drip that was getting on my nerves.
"It changes you into a really dark person. But really, I’m a joker. I’m a clown. It’s only just starting to come out in my music. All I really want to do is make people jump around and smile.
"I didn’t want to make a meal of getting stabbed. And 50 Cent had already done it. I didn’t want to compete with getting shot nine times."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:48 pm

SIMON COWELL is refusing gifts for his upcoming 50th birthday - because he’s determined to ignore the milestone.
The music mogul reaches half a century next week (07Sep09) and he’ll celebrate when billionaire Sir Philip Green hosts a lavish bash in the U.K. at the weekend (03Oct09).
The event is sure to be a star-studded affair, with Sir Elton John, Kylie Minogue and Kevin Spacey topping the glittering guest list.
But Cowell is desperate to downplay the landmark birthday, insisting he doesn’t see what the big deal is.
He says, "What is there to be excited about turning 50? Can’t we just pretend it’s not going to happen? Seriously, I feel exactly the same now turning 50 as I did when I was 40 or 30. I am enjoying myself.
"There are a couple of charities I am involved with that would appreciate a donation. But please, no presents from anyone."

ANDERTON OPENS UP ABOUT HOOKER SHAME

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:48 pm

Disgraced British model SOPHIE ANDERTON has spoken out about her days as a high-priced hooker, insisting she took the cash to pay for drug debts.
The stunner was recently exposed as a cocaine user in British tabloid The Sun and now she’s revealing what she did to earn upto $22,500 (£15,000)-an-hour as a prostitute to millionaire businessmen.
She tells the publication, "This is the truth, warts and all. For a short while I sold my body for a lot of money. I am not proud of it… In the summer of 2004 I was drinking a bottle of vodka a night and using cocaine by day.
"The coke ran out, my cash card was rejected and my dealer was ringing up demanding payments. I knew I desperately needed money - now." Anderton admits her first sexual encounter as a hooker lasted less than two minutes: "I felt a bit sick before my first time. But I told myself to get a grip. I got a taxi to a hotel in Knightsbridge, West London. I was shaking and sweating. I was dressed in a black Dolce and Gabbana suit, with six-inch Louboutin heels. I looked respectable, successful, normal.
"I went to this man’s room. I had told the madam I didn’t want to be with some horrible fat, old man. So when he opened the door I was relieved. He was a smart Arab, mid-30s and quite handsome. We shook hands. He seemed so lonely my nerves vanished and I felt sorry for this man.
"After about 40 minutes of talking, I decided to take charge and stood up and took my dress off. I pushed him back on the bed while he looked at me eagerly. I closed my eyes and quickly pulled down his underwear. I felt in control. It was over very quickly. He handed me the cash and I slipped out." The model admits she was an instant big hit: "I actually giggled when she (the madam) asked if I fancied a trip to Florence. I thought, ‘Italy doesn’t sound too bad’. Suddenly I was on a plane, first class. I was taken to a beautiful hotel, where a porter showed me to my room.
"It was filled with chocolates, champagne, flowers. Laid out on the bed was expensive underwear with a note that read, ‘Please put these on’." The client was a British businessman she knew, and her money-making side venture almost came to a crashing halt.
She adds, "He said, ‘Sophie, why is a nice girl like you doing something like this?’ I couldn’t answer. But the sex was amazing and the following morning I woke up and found a Christian Dior bag filled with £50 notes. I’d sold my body again and this was what it was worth." Her days as a high-class hooker ended when she almost threw up during sex with a "leering" overweight businessman: "I felt sick. His face was sweaty and cheerful, like a cat who’d got the cream. For the first time, I felt like a piece of meat. He stripped, revealing a huge stomach. It was over in a minute. I left trembling and crying.
"I had slept with five men and made more than £50,000, which paid my drug debts and a deposit on a flat. Now I could escape."

50 CENT GOES HOME

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:06 am

50 CENT returned to his old New York neighborhood on Saturday (26Sep09) to perform a concert for his hometown fans.
Thousands packed into a school playground in Jamaica, Queens for a community festival that boasted Fiddy as its headlining act.
The festival was cancelled back in August (09) because local authorities were concerned about security arrangements.

The rapper invited the officers to join the party, shouting from the stage, "I ain’t never seen this before. That’s the motherf**king police. You might as well come down and party with us, because we’re not going to be doing anything else. I’m just going to enjoy myself.

DIAMOND: ‘TV CHIEFS PAID OFF LOPEZ RAPE ACCUSER’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:51 pm

Former SAVED BY THE BELL actor DUSTIN DIAMOND has accused TV bosses of paying off a girl who alleged his co-star MARIO LOPEZ date-raped her in 1993.
Diamond, who played geeky Samuel ‘Screech’ Powers in the hit ’90s show, has made a number of shocking revelations about activities behind the scenes of the high school drama in his new memoir Behind The Bell.
In one chapter, titled ‘A.C. Makes the Ladies Scream’, Diamond claims Lopez was a womaniser who regularly used his fame as character A.C. Slater to take advantage of female fans.
He writes, "(Lopez) hit on every co-star, every extra, every production assistant and every fan he found himself sitting next to." Lopez was at the centre of a date-rape scandal in 1993, when a teenage girl accused him of luring her back to his house and forcing himself on her.
A police investigation was launched but the TV hunk, who denied the claims, was never arrested and no charges were filed against him.
Diamond alleges the young girl only chose not to press charges after NBC network chiefs paid her $50,000 (£33,330) to "keep her mouth shut".
But the 32 year old insists he was not surprised when the date-rape case came to light, admitting, "He didn’t take no for an answer." Representatives for NBC and Lopez have refused to comment on Diamond’s claims.

LADY GAGA CAUGHT UP IN IRISH CONCERT SCANDAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:42 pm

LADY GAGA is at the centre of an Irish entertainment company’s $1 million (£666,670) lawsuit against a New York talent agency, amid allegations they were conned into booking concerts with a firm that doesn’t even represent the star.
Bosses at Grooveyard Ltd., a gig promotion company based in Ireland, claim they struck a deal with Manhattan’s American Talent Agency earlier this year (09) to fly the Just Dance hitmaker to Europe for shows in Dublin and Belfast in October (09).
Company executives reportedly paid $320,000 (£213,350) to secure the tour dates, but were left confused when they were slapped with a cease-and-desist order by AEG Live bosses demanding they stop promoting the concerts - because only AEG has the authority to book the star.
Grooveyard filed a lawsuit against the American Talent Agency in New York State Court this week (begs21Sep09), demanding compensation for the bogus deal, reports TMZ.com.

FARROW WOWED BY CAMEROON ON MERCY TRIP

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:18 am

Actress MIA FARROW has become an unofficial tourist ambassador for Cameroon after visiting the country’s Prime Minister on a recent fact finding mission.
The star has just returned from the country, where she spent time with dignitaries and refugees from Chad, and she’s now encouraging other Americans to include the country in their travel plans.
In a post on her blog, the Rosemary’s Baby star writes, "Cameroon is an oasis of peace surrounded by some violent neighbours that include Congo, Chad and Central African Republic. For this reason I have long been curious about Cameroon. How is it that they have managed to maintain peace while surrounded by war? People here offered some answers.
"Peace for Cameroon is the top priority. There are 250 ethnic groups here. Cameroonians pride themselves on their acceptance of all ethnicities." Farrow was particularly impressed with the north of the country, where she met the refugees: "It’s a beautiful part of the country… When Chadian rebels (supported by Sudan) attacked N’Djamena in an effort to topple the government, large numbers of Chadians fled into Cameroon. You can see Cameroon across the river in Ndjamena. I have often watched the hippos there. It’s easy to cross the bridge and many terrified Chadians, and ex-patriots too, did just that as rebels hacked their way through town, leaving the streets strewn with bodies.
"The countryside in Cameroon, particularly the north, is spectacular, but everywhere the land is lush and anything can grow.
"I met with the Prime Minister, the First Lady and the Ministers of Health, Education and Social Services, as well as with local Governors and authorities. Everywhere I was received most warmly and graciously. My message was the same to each. I came to Cameroon for 52,000 very good reasons. In this (relatively) middle-income country it is not acceptable that every year 52,000 children under the age of five are dying of malnutrition.
"Tourists would love Cameroon. Gorgeous place with lovely people. I hear there are elephants and gorillas in wild life parks."
