RADCLIFFE GREW UP TERRIFIED OF NUCLEAR ATTACK

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:15 am

HARRY POTTER star DANIEL RADCLIFFE grew up terrified of a nuclear blast.
The young star is about to scare film fans as the star of horror film The Woman in Black, and he admits there were quite a few things that frightened him as a child - but none more so than the big bang.
He says, "I was afraid of ghosts when I was a kid and afraid of the dark and monsters under the bed. When I was a kid and somebody first told me about a nuclear bomb I would live in fear of nuclear war for the next five years of my life." Nowadays, his biggest fear is creepy crawlies: "I don’t love cockroaches." And he admits he doesn’t buy into ghost stories anymore - so all the weird things that happened on the set of his new chiller didn’t keep him awake at night: "This film was made entirely by cynics. Strange things have happened but I don’t explain it with ghosts. It requires actually way more explanation for me than justifying a ghost doing something."

ROBERTS ANGRY OVER GIRLS ALOUD BREAK

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:15 am

British singer NICOLA ROBERTS was furious when her GIRLS ALOUD bandmates decided to take a hiatus, because she was convinced she couldn’t make music on her own.
The girl group, which also features Cheryl Cole, Sarah Harding, Kimberley Walsh and Nadine Coyle, is currently on a break while the singers concentrate on solo projects.
Roberts recently released her debut solo album, Cinderella’s Eyes, but she was originally "angry and frustrated" with the hiatus as she didn’t know what to do with her time.
She tells Britain’s Daily Express, "I didn’t know how I was going to have music in my life until the band had another record. Before I started making the (solo) album I felt so frustrated I wasn’t making music and I felt like I couldn’t see music in my life for a long time.
"It really made me sad. I felt like I wanted to be a singer and I used to write a little and then all of a sudden the band went on a break and management were trying to find different things for me to do - this TV work, that TV work - and it was just like: ‘This is really sad, actually.’ It really wasn’t sitting well with me at all.
"I was frustrated and angry inside every day. That’s what the song Fish Out Of Water was about: ‘What, am I supposed to just find another career because the band is on a break?’ That’s how I felt."

LAMBERT ASKS FOR CHARITY BIRTHDAY DONATIONS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:12 am

Glam rocker ADAM LAMBERT is showing off his giving side for his 30th birthday by asking fans to donate to charity instead of sending him presents.
The former American Idol contestant reached the milestone age on Sunday (29Jan12), and, like last year (11), he wants to use the occasion to help the needy.
Lambert has urged his devotees to pledge money to Charity: Water, an organisation which brings safe drinking water to developing countries, rather than shower him with gifts.
In a message posted on the charity’s website, he writes, "Last year for my ‘golden birthday’, you gave me the best birthday present I could have asked for - you donated $323,803 to bring clean water to over 16,000 people! It felt so amazing to have my fans, friends and family do something so inspiring for my birthday.
"I’ve been asked what I would like people to do this year for my 30th birthday. I’d like to invite you to join me and ‘give up’ your birthday this year.
"Wait until you see how amazing it feels. Together, I bet we can raise over $1 million and bring thousands more people clean water."

HAGAR NOT IMPRESSED WITH VAN HALEN’S COMEBACK ALBUM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:12 am

Rocker SAMMY HAGAR has blasted his former VAN HALEN bandmates’ comeback album, revealing it left him cold and unimpressed when he heard it.
The band’s former frontman was not asked to be part of the group’s 2012 plans and now he’s glad he missed out because he’s convinced the band’s February (12) album will leave fans feeling cheated.
He tells Radio Metal, "What I’ve heard so far, I wasn’t impressed with at all, personally… I think they chose to take the easy route and take some of their old stuff and re-record it instead of writing new songs… I don’t think the fans are going to be happy with it.
"I couldn’t care less if it’s the biggest album of the year; that wouldn’t be important to me. What is important to me is that, as artists, why would you do that? They haven’t released an album since my last album in something like 1991 or 1992, and then they just go back. To me, it makes a strange statement, it kind of says, ‘We don’t have anything, we’re not a band anymore, we’re not creative.’ "To be honest with you, the last time I was around those guys was in 2004 on the reunion. It was a disaster, it was horrible… I don’t know what they’re thinking, to be honest with you." And Hagar believes the pressure to record finally got to his former bandmates: "I don’t think they had any choice. If they had had a choice they would’ve done all new stuff. From today. They would’ve written together like a band… I think there’s zero inspiration and zero creativity." Replacing Hagar and longtime Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony in the group is original singer David Lee Roth and Van Halen’s son Wolfgang.

DRUNK WELCH ACCIDENTALLY SET FIRE TO HOTEL ROOM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:12 am

British singer FLORENCE WELCH became so intoxicated during a recent trip to New York she accidentally set fire to her hotel room while she was sleeping.
The Florence and the Machine frontwoman was in the Big Apple to perform an acoustic gig and afterwards she partied with rapper Kanye West and Swedish singer Lykke Li in her dressing room.
Welch got so drunk she ripped her dress, lost her cell phone and chipped a tooth, before heading back to her hotel room, where she left a candle burning.
The singer has now confessed all about the wild night, telling Britain’s Q magazine, "I think I must have had about 17 Dirty Martinis. I lost my phone and ripped my dress very badly. I accidentally set fire to The Bowery Hotel because I’d left a cinnamon tea light burning.
"I came back to the hotel, passed out in my ripped dress - no phone, chipped tooth - came round and there was black stuff all over the wall, my book had melted on the bedside table and there was a bucket of water on the floor. Actually the last scene you want to wake up to with a hangover. Half the room was singed." Welch admits her antics also left a noticeable mark on her bank balance, adding, "My American publicist was like, ‘Ah yes, there was a very big bill on my credit card.’ But the fire damage was only a couple of hundred. The big bill was the bl**dy dressing room drinks bill. Kanye West, Lykke Li, me, the doormen, most of Lower Manhattan, whoever, drinking Dirty Martinis and what have you. (The amount is) undisclosed."

FAMILY MEDICAL DRAMA PROMPTED PENN’S HAITI ACTIVISM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:24 pm

SEAN PENN rushed to help the people of Haiti in the wake of 2010’s catastrophic earthquake after witnessing his son bounce back from a near-fatal head injury - all thanks to modern medication.
The Milk star was still reeling from his marriage split from actress Robin Wright when his teenage son Hopper suffered a devastating skateboarding accident, which left him in need of emergency brain surgery.
In the days that followed, Penn watched him make a full recovery with the help of pain medication, and the actor reveals as soon as the tremendous tremor hit Haiti, he couldn’t bear the thought of survivors undergoing amputations without the same medical help his son had received.
He tells the New York Times, "I had been single-parenting after a divorce for about eight months, and in that time my son had a traumatic head injury. And after getting through the life threat or the brain-damage threat, still there was the pain, and then he was given morphine for the pain, and I guess… I really found affection for what those pain medications could do to people.
"I had just seen his relief and so then it was four days before the earthquake that both he and his mother had found they were ready to spend some time together, so he left, which was initially kind of a 24/7 burden of eight months that I needed to break through… After that I was just sitting around missing him, and the earthquake happened.
"I was hearing about the amputations and so on without any IV (intravenous) pain medications, so I put a little group together, but the intention initially was just to go down and distribute those medications to the hospitals and clinics that were doing surgeries. And then we had a pretty good group of people, and there were gaps to be filled… One commitment built into another one." Penn founded the J/P Haitian Relief Organization and two years later he’s still a very present force in Haiti as both aid worker and activist.

LOPEZ VOWS NEVER TO DISCUSS DIVORCE IN PUBLIC AGAIN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:24 pm

JENNIFER LOPEZ is refusing to field anymore questions about her divorce from MARC ANTHONY because they want to keep the trouble in their personal lives private for the sake of their two children.
The singer/actress split from salsa star Anthony in July (11) and Lopez broke her silence about the breakdown of her third marriage to Vanity Fair magazine in August (11), claiming she "really worked hard" to save their relationship.
She said, "Sometimes we don’t realise that we are compromising ourselves. To understand that a person is not good for you, or that that person is not treating you in the right way, or that he is not doing the right thing for himself - if I stay, then I am not doing the right thing for me. I love myself enough to walk away from that now." Lopez has not spoken in detail about the split since, and she has warned reporters not to ask her to explain her Vanity Fair quotes - because it was the one and only time she was prepared to open up about her heartache.
During an interview on U.S. breakfast show Today on Monday (30Jan12), she said, "Everything I wanted to say about the divorce I said in that article. And Marc and I agreed that we’re not gonna talk about it publicly again because it really is our personal lives. We have children and it’s something that we just have to respect and keep sacred.
"It’s not the easiest thing in the world but we handled it with a lot of grace, a lot of caring and a lot of love." The estranged couple recently reunited to continue working on and promoting its new reality TV show Q’Viva - The Chosen, which Lopez and Anthony host and produce.
Lopez insists they remain on good terms when it comes to their working relationship, although she admits the pair "had its moments" on set.
She added, "Marc and I were friends before we got married. We were friends for years, and we always loved each other. And we always worked together, so it wasn’t an unnatural thing for us to continue working together… It’s really a passion project for us.
"Even though it has its difficult moments, it’s still a great thing that we’re doing, that we feel that we’re doing. We have our moments, we’re human, but, at the end of the day, there is real love there and there is a family there, and that comes first."

Of course you have to play live but I don’t think you can." WORTHINGTON’S HEIGHT TERROR ON MOVIE SET

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:16 pm

SAM WORTHINGTON almost had a meltdown when he arrived on-set for gravity-defying thriller MAN ON A LEDGE - because his crippling fear of heights left him terrified.
The Avatar star plays a suicidal crook in the new movie, and the role required him to spend hours perched on a tiny ridge on a skyscraper high above Manhattan in New York.
And although a safety harness was used to ensure the actor was never in any danger as the cameras rolled, Worthington admits he began to regret taking the part when he arrived for the first day of the shoot.
He tells Seven magazine, "I had to man up and do it. I was lucky I didn’t burst into tears and go into a foetal position because that wouldn’t have been a very good start to the film. (I thought) ‘It’s called Man on a Ledge, d**khead! Get out of the window!’"
