KID ROCK has handed over $10,000 (GBP5,000) to a group of U.S. Boy Scouts after discovering their camping equipment has been stolen.
The rocker was in Orlando, Florida when he read reports that a trailer and camping gear belonging to Oviedo Boy Scout Troop 631 had been stolen from behind a church.
Rock, struck by the story, stepped in and wrote out a cheque. His publicist Nick Stern says, "Rock was very happy to help out." The troop leader, Bill Stott, insists Kid Rock’s generosity and donations made to the scouts from Florida locals will be more than enough to replace the stolen equipment.
Stott has vowed to donate any leftover cash: "A Scout earns his way. The community is giving to us, so we want to give back to the community."

LATEST: KATIE HOLMES would be perfect for the lead role in a Broadway revival of play ALL MY SONS, according to the show’s producer.
Holmes is said to be in final negotiations to join John Lithgow and Dianne Wiest on stage, playing Ann Deever in an autumn 2008 New York production of Arthur Miller’s post-World War II tale.
Representatives for the actress have refused to confirm the reports, but producer Eric Falkenstein is desperate to cast her.
He says. "Katie is very well suited for the role of Ann. There is an additional layer of soul to Ann and from the work I’ve seen of Katie, she has always impressed with multi-faceted characters. She would nail it.
"Despite being in the spotlight and her celebrity status, the fact remains that she has a tremendous record of performances. I think Katie is a tremendous actor. Whenever she decides to come to the stage she’ll be terrific." In January (08) Holmes spoke of her desire to conquer the New York stage, revealing, "There’s nothing concrete. I’ve always had that fantasy when I was growing up, to be on Broadway."

MARIAH CAREY and her new husband NICK CANNON will celebrate their first wedding anniversary by staging a more public ceremony in America.
The couple wed in secret at Carey’s Bahamas retreat on 30 April (08) and the pop superstar reveals she’s already making plans to renew her vows.
In her first TV interview since becoming Mrs. Cannon, Carey told U.S. chat show host Ellen DeGeneres, "We’re just going to have another (wedding) next year. His plan is to have one every year." She told DeGeneres in the interview that aired on Tuesday (13May08) that her Bahamas nuptials were so top secret that the guests were mainly there "to do my hair and help me with the dress." She also revealed that she and Cannon only brought along three friends each because, "We wanted to be on the beach and we didn’t want other people taking pictures."

Late CROCODILE HUNTER star STEVE IRWIN’s widow TERRI has vowed to fight to stop a mining company from drilling for bauxite in a wildlife area dedicated to her husband.
The conservationist has learned the mining firm has plans to excavate a large area of the Steve Irwin Wildlife Reserve on Australia’s Cape York Peninsula.
The 333,000-acre site was purchased in 2006 by the Australian Government as a tribute to her husband, who died after an attack by a stingray at the Great Barrier Reef the same year.

Pop superstar MADONNA is snubbing a court hearing in Malawi on Thursday (15May08), where her adoption of two-year-old DAVID BANDA is expected to be confirmed.
The 49-year-old was scheduled to jet to the African nation to appear in the capital Lilongwe’s High Court - but has pulled out just days before, claiming "other engagements" have clashed with the hearing.
She had already been granted permission to stay away; when she attempted to have the date moved, the judge informed her the adoption could be finalised in her absence.
Madonna’s lawyer Alan Chinula says, "We are going to court on Thursday but Madonna will not be there because she is not coming. The judge has indicated that he cannot object to her being absent when making the ruling." Thursday’s ruling will end an 20-month long saga, since Madonna took Banda from an orphanage in October 2006, when he was just 13 months old."

The eldest daughter of U.S. soap star LORENZO LAMAS is to wed British stockbroker MATT GRANT after a televised proposal on the season finale of U.S.
TV show THE BACHELOR: LONDON CALLING.
Grant picked Shayne Lamas to be his bride after a six-week dating game.
The finale, which featured the beaming Brit’s proposal, aired on Monday night (12May08). Giddy Lamas, 22, won 27-year-old Grant’s heart from fellow finalist Chelsea Wanstrath, a 24-year-old pharmaceutical sales representative.
Lamas, an actress, has two films coming out this year - Deep In The Valley and The 13th Alley.

Executives at British cosmetics giant RIMMEL have denied rumours they are replacing supermodel KATE MOSS as the company’s spokesmodel.
Recent reports suggested Moss was set to make way for pop star Sophie Ellis-Bextor, amid fears Moss’ constant presence in the U.K. tabloids reflected poorly on the brand.
But Rimmel bosses have no plans to fire the 34-year-old - who has represented the company in TV ads since 2001.
A spokesperson says, "Kate Moss is a worldwide inspiration and leader in fashion and beauty, and has been an iconic face for Rimmel London. I am thrilled we are continuing our professional partnership and that she will be an inspiration for the Rimmel consumer as our official ambassador." A company spokesperson admits the firm plans to add additional models to work alongside Moss to broaden the firm’s presence on a global scale, focusing on lucrative markets in Asia, South America and the Middle East.
The rep says, "Kate Moss is thrilled to be part of the Rimmel brand with a larger scope of models who reach a broader range of ethnic groups and age groups in new markets."

LATEST: California health watchdogs are investigating another 14 staff members at UCLA Medical Center in their ongoing scrutiny on celebrity snooping at the Los Angeles hospital.
More than 50 physicians and medical workers have so far been investigated after claims of improper viewing of celebrity medical records first surfaced, and one former administrative specialist, Lawanda Jackson, has been indicted for allegedly selling outpatient records to the media.
The medical records of Tom Cruise, Farrah Fawcett, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Britney Spears are believed to be at the centre of the ongoing investigation, which was launched after a Los Angeles Times newspaper expose earlier this year (08).
Officials have already faulted UCLA Medical Center bosses for failing to maintain patient confidentiality and report the breaches, which date back to 1995, to regulators.
According to the latest documents, Lawanda Jackson reviewed the records of actress Farrah Fawcett on 104 days in 2006 and 2007, as the former Charlie’s Angels star was battling cancer.
She also allegedly snooped into Spears’ medical records.
Jackson is not mentioned by name in the records, nor are the celebrities involved, but the Los Angeles Times has confirmed their identities.
Fawcett sparked the Times report when she complained to her UCLA doctor about a suspected breach, shortly after tabloid the National Enquirer reported the actress’ cancer had returned last summer.
The actress claimed she had yet to tell members of her family and her closest friends about her health crisis when the publication ran its story.

Music mogul PHIL SPECTOR has suffered another personal setback - his longtime ‘Wall of Sound’ engineer, LARRY LEVINE, has died.
Levine died on Thursday (08May08) while celebrating his 80th birthday party in Encino, California.
He is largely responsible for the famous Spector sound that came with hits by the Crystals, the Ronettes and the Righteous Brothers, among others.
Stan Ross, the studio boss at Santa Monica, California’s Gold Star - where Levine and Spector created music history - insists the famous producer would have been nothing without the engineer.
Ross tells the Los Angeles Times newspaper, "He made Phil Spector a genius." Levine’s death comes as his former boss, Spector, awaits a retrial in his murder case. He is accused of shooting actress Lana Clarkson at his Alhambra, California mansion in 2003.

The Candy Shop hitmaker criticised Wayne last year (07), accusing him of taking any job for money.
50 told a radio interview, "A whore sleeps with whoever will pay him. So we gotta call him a whore…" But Wayne insists the insult did him a favour.
He tells Blender magazine, "Man, I have to call him and say thank you. He’s catapulted me (to fame). White people know me now. Thank you."
