Cannabis apology

Posted in: Bizzare Stories — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:12 pm

Canada’s Green Party leader has apologised for never smoking cannabis.
Elizabeth May recently unveiled her party’s election manifesto – ahead of the upcoming Canadian general election - which includes a proposal to legalise the drug.
She said: “I am not a fan of marijuana use. I have to confess this, I know all politicians are asked. I’ve never used marijuana. I apologise.” The party wants to sell marijuana to adults through licensed distribution outlets, and estimates the plan would raise CA$1 billion in tax yearly.
The Green party currently holds one parliamentary seat.

Tobacco fine

Posted in: Bizzare Stories — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:12 pm

Dutch police fined a man for smoking cannabis – because his cigarette contained tobacco.
Holland introduced a smoking ban in restaurants and cafes in July, meaning although the public can still smoke cannabis in establishments, smoking tobacco is prohibited.
An Amsterdam police spokesman said: “For logic it is sometimes impossible to explain, even to the Dutch. The man was not fined for smoking a cannabis joint but for smoking. You can smoke cannabis but not tobacco in coffee shops.” The 27-year-old man owns a coffee shop in the city and was fined after he was caught rolling a cigarette with tobacco and cannabis during a routine police check.
He is expected to contest the charge in court.

He said: “Apparently once you give your kidney you will never feel whole. But I’ll get a cool scar and apparently chicks dig scars.” Juan, 26, will undergo rigorous psychiatric and physical tests before he is allowed to donate the organ.
He added: “I am young, I am fit, I am healthy, I have two kidneys. I don’t need that second one and someone will be able to get out of hospital.”

An Italian man has been fined £400 for throwing his wife’s cat out of the house.

When his wife Laura discovered what had happened she was so angry she contacted Italian Animal and Environment Defence Association, who got in touch with specially trained lawyers.
Laura claimed Ivano was shivering and hungry after he was forced to spend the night outdoors.
A court ordered Allessandro to pay £400 for vet’s expenses and emotional damage.
Laura said: “I love my cat very, very much and what happened to it affected me deeply. It is only fair that I receive some compensation.”

A German farmer decided to drive 175 miles to visit a friend on his combine harvester.
Arnold Gerber, 28, started his trip in the early evening in an attempt to avoid heavy traffic, but had soon caused a five-mile traffic jam.
Police eventually stopped him 30 miles into his journey, and fined him for driving too slowly – the vehicle’s top speed was 15mph.
Arnold said: “I took the combine harvester because I have never had a licence for a car, only a tractor. I did not think I would be doing anything wrong.
"I have a friend who lives a long way away and he asked if I wanted to go and see him. I have been driving combine harvesters for years and have to take them along some roads now and again.”

Beer child

Posted in: Bizzare Stories — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:12 pm

An American man was cited after he bought a beer for his four-year-old son.
The man purchased the beverage at the Fond du Lac County Fair in Wisconsin, and then began sharing it with his son’s two-year-old sibling.
The female bartender told police she initially thought the man was joking when he made his request.
When a law enforcement officer approached the man, he claimed it was legal for minors to drink alcohol in Wisconsin as long as an adult was present.
The policeman countered the child was not old enough to understand what he was drinking, prompting the man to become belligerent.
He started shouting, swearing and kicking fairground equipment.
The area’s district attorney recently ordered the man be cited for disorderly conduct.

A thief has been ordered to write ‘Daddy, stop stealing’ on his hand for seven months.
County Circuit Judge Pamela Lightvoet made the unusual ruling after Daniel Cleland of Michigan, America – who was being sentenced for stealing – revealed his son had uttered the words.
The judge ordered Daniel, 27, to have the words written or taped to his arm for seven months – which was the amount of time she was going to jail him for.
She said: “You very easily could have been sent off to jail for seven months. I don’t want to see you back here unless you’re visiting.” The judge added it was Daniel’s last chance to avoid being sent to prison.
He was also given four months probation.

A Spanish politician has angered the female members of the opposing party after admitting he lost his virginity in a brothel.
Miguel Angel Revilla, head of Cantabria’s regional Government, confessed to playing for sex when he was 18 during a television interview broadcast earlier this week.
But now women of the Popular Party have condemned the man for promoting prostitution.
A party statement read: “As the head of the regional government, he should be an example for the young people of Cantabria.
"Instead he encourages them to pay for their first sexual experience." But 65-year-old Revilla defended his comment, saying his detractors are hypocrites.
He said: “Ninety-nine percent of Spanish men did it back then."

Wrong continent

Posted in: Bizzare Stories — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:12 pm

An Argentinean woman mistakenly flew out to the wrong continent after buying a holiday online.
Monique Torres Aguero of Buenos Aires had intended a trip to Sydney Australia, but had not realised she had actually booked a flight to Sidney in Nova Scotia, Canada.
She only realised the mishap when she boarded a small propeller powered plane to take her on the last leg of her journey, but she didn’t want to “make a fuss”.
She said: "When things happen, you let them happen." The Canadian town – located in the British Columbia province of the country – has welcomed several misguided tourists in the past.
Two Britons accidentally turned up in 2002 while Sidney has also seen lost holidaymakers from Germany and Czechoslovakia.

Penis amputation

Posted in: Bizzare Stories — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:12 pm

A man awoke from a circumcision operation to find his penis had been cut off.
Philip Seaton went for the routine operation at a Kentucky hospital last year, but is suing doctors after his penis was amputated.
He has filed a lawsuit citing mental anguish, pain and claiming he has lost the enjoyment of life.
Philip’s lawyer Kevin George says the organ was removed after cancer was found, but adds medics only had permission to remove the foreskin.
He said: “Sometimes you have an emergency and you have to do this, but he could very easily closed him up and said, ‘Here are your options. You have cancer’ and the family would have said, ‘We want a second opinion. This is a big deal.’ "

Faeces fight

Posted in: Bizzare Stories — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:12 pm

Veterinarians in Israel are set to use DNA in the fight against dog faeces littering the streets.
The animal experts will be taking samples using mouth swabs and matching to a rapidly growing database to match the poo to the dog’s owner.
If the scheme takes off, the vets hope to make it mandatory to register their animal’s DNA.
Tika Bar-On, chief veterinarian, came up with the plan and said animal lovers have so far reacted positively to the idea.
She said: “Residents are co-operating because they want their neighbourhood to be clean.” The doctor also explained the collection of genetic makeup could also help in research into diseases, investigating canine pedigree and identifying stray animals.

A giant pig held a terrified woman hostage for 10 days.
The enormous porker – which is said to be the size of a pony – made aggressive demands for food and beat its head against 53-year-old Australian Caroline Hayes’ bedroom door during her horrifying ordeal.
After Caroline tried to defend herself with a broom stick, the ferocious animal took the weapon in its mouth and snapped it in half.
She said: "It couldn’t see out of one of its eyes, so I put cream in it and I fixed its back up. But apparently it actually wanted to claim my land and my home." The pig was taken to a piggery where it will be placed on stud duty.

Model citizens

Posted in: Bizzare Stories — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:12 pm

New Zealand politicians will be immortalized in a range of pet toys.
Masterpet will release the likenesses of current Prime Minister Helen Clark and candidate John Key ahead of the election to raise awareness.
The company believes sales figures for the rubber chew toys will enable them to judge which of the two faces will be fed to the dogs on election night on November 8.
Sales manager Peter Couchman said: “Early data in our reverse poll suggests a preference for Prime Minister Helen Clark." The sales figures mirror genuine opinion polls. A survey by international news agency Reuters suggests the current National led Government is trailing behind with just 36.3% while the opposing National party is leading with 50%.
