HAGMAN WILL BOUNCE BACK FROM CANCER, SAYS STRONG

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:18 pm

LARRY HAGMAN’s DALLAS co-star BRENDA STRONG is convinced the veteran actor will win his cancer battle, insisting: "He’ll bounce back." The 80-year-old star announced in October (11) he is receiving treatment for the illness but vowed to continue shooting his scenes for the hit show’s relaunch next year (12).
Strong has been drafted in as a new addition to the Ewing family - playing Bobby’s wife Ann - and she’s revealed Hagman is bravely fighting his illness and is keeping a positive mood on set.
She tells the Hollywood Reporter, "You know, his spirit astounds me. This man is so incredibly resilient. I have been doing scenes with him and his eyes are sparkling and he is on top of his game. And I know he is dealing with a tremendous amount of things in order to combat and deal with his health, but he is absolutely resilient and incredibly present and talented and it hasn’t really impacted his ability to work per se.
"They have scheduled him very well around his treatment and he is showing up… So I am really impressed with his strength, not only physically, but he is made of iron, that man. It is steel. So, we are really proud of him… He is extraordinary and I see him having no trouble bouncing back."

GOSLING, ADAMS AND DESCHANEL URGING MCDONALD’S TO BUY CAGE-FREE EGGS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:30 am

Animal-lovers RYAN GOSLING, BRYAN ADAMS, ZOOEY DESCHANEL and ALICIA SILVERSTONE are calling on McDonald’s bosses in the US to commit to buying free-range eggs after one of their suppliers was exposed for the mistreatment of its hens.
Undercover video footage from Sparboe Farms sparked outrage when it surfaced online last month (Nov11), depicting the birds being crammed into cages and mishandled by employees.
Executives at the fast food firm promptly dropped Sparboe Farms as a supplier, but the move is not enough for animal rights campaigners at Mercy For Animals, who are urging McDonald’s heads to buy eggs from more humane sources.
The stars, along with comedian Steve-O, actress Emily Deschanel and True Blood star Kristin Bauer, are among a group of 10 celebrities who have signed an open letter to McDonald’s American CEO Jim Skinner calling for the company to follow in the footsteps of its European operation and ban eggs from caged birds.
The letter reads, "While McDonald’s has already established a 100 per cent cage-free purchasing policy in Europe, your US restaurants continue to support egg factory farms that confine hens for most of their lives in cages so small they can’t even spread their wings, nearly anything that comes naturally to them. Common sense tells us that animals with legs and wings should be given the basic freedom to move.
"Sadly, there is not a single federal law to protect hens from cruelty from the time they hatch to the time they are killed. While McDonald’s brags about the ‘billions and billions served’, millions of hens exploited for your restaurants are being grossly underserved. In fact, these animals are being abused in ways that would land your egg suppliers in jail, if dogs or cats were the victims."

A man who uploaded an unfinished copy of X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE onto the internet before its official release has been sentenced to a year in federal prison.
Gilberto Sanchez, a glass installer and musician based in New York, posted a print of the superhero movie - starring Hugh Jackman - online back in 2009, four weeks before the film hit cinemas.

BUTLER HOSPITALISED AFTER MOVIE STUNT WENT WRONG

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:21 am

Actor GERARD BUTLER was hospitalised over the weekend (17-18Dec11) when a surfing stunt for upcoming movie OF MEN AND MAVERICKS went wrong.
The 300 star was filming in northern California when a large wave brought him crashing down, leaving him struggling to keep his head above the water.
Surfer Frank Quirarte writes in a post on his ESPN Action Sports blog, "Butler was held down for a solid two-waves and took four or five more waves on the head.
"He was then washed through the rocks on the inside before he was finally able to be plucked out. When they brought Butler in he had that 100-yard stare that surfers get after a two-wave hold (down) or near death experience." Butler was taken to Stanford University Medical Centre and checked over for injuries before being released.
The actor’s representative tells ET Online, "He’s fine. Very scary. They brought him to Stanford University. More scary than anything. For precaution, we all wanted him checked out after it all happened. Came out with flying colours."

FINCHER FAILED TO GAIN INSURANCE FOR MARA/CRAIG MOTORBIKE STUNT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:12 pm

Director DAVID FINCHER had to ditch plans to film a motorbike stunt scene with ROONEY MARA and DANIEL CRAIG for new thriller THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO because no insurance firm was willing to provide cover.
Mara stars as lead character Lisbeth Salander in the Hollywood adaptation of late Swedish author Stieg Larsson’s Millennium Trilogy books, opposite Craig as journalist Mikael Blomkvist.
The actress, who underwent a dramatic physical transformation for the role, was required to take motorcycle lessons to learn how to drive the two-wheeler for the film, and she admits it was one of the tougher demands she faced for the shoot.
Mara says, "It was all challenging but the motorcycle was the thing that I was the least excited about doing. It seemed very dangerous to me." But Craig wasn’t prepared to hop on the back of the motorbike with inexperienced driver Mara - and Fincher’s hopes for the scene were completely dashed when he struggled to gain the approval of insurance bosses in case of any accidents.
Fincher explains, "We put her on the plane to go to Stockholm by herself for five weeks to learn how to ride a motorcycle. We so desperately wanted to do a scene with Daniel on the back of the motorcycle. (But) we couldn’t get insurance for that if Rooney was gonna drive!"
