JOLIE WORRIED RAPE SCENE WOULD CAUSE TENSION BETWEEN BOSNIAN AND SERBIAN CASTMEMBERS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:27 pm

ANGELINA JOLIE was "very nervous" as she shot a harrowing rape scene for her directorial debut IN THE LAND OF BLOOD AND HONEY, because she feared the controversy between a Serbian soldier and a Bosnian woman would stir tensions between local actors on set.
The actress and first-time director hand-picked the stars of her Bosnian War love story and many of the castmembers, including Zana Marjanovic, Goran Kostic and Rade Serbedzija, witnessed first-hand the atrocities of the 1990s conflict growing up in the region.
However, Jolie feared one of the earliest scenes in the movie, involving actor Ermin Sijamija sexually abusing a female, would cause friction between the stars as they all came from opposing sides of the ethnic battle.
She says, "The first scene we shot was when the women were pulled off the bus and things are ripped away from them and (one) woman is raped in front of the others. Many of the cast had known each other and came from different sides of the conflict so I was very nervous that this first day would cause more tension." But Jolie had no reason to worry - because the actors behaved like gentlemen as soon as the emotionally-tough scene was over.
She continues, "The first scene we played it out and it was shocking and horrifying. As soon as I called ‘cut’, I noticed Ermin picked up the woman who he had to rape in the scene and gave her the biggest hug and made sure she was OK. All the other men picked up the clothes off the floor and redressed the women themselves and that was the beginning of how we would all treat each other on this film. It set the tone."

BULLOCK BANNED FROM DATING AS A TEEN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:24 pm

Actress SANDRA BULLOCK endured a strict upbringing and was banned from going on dates unless she promised to call home every 20 minutes.
The Blind Side star admits her mum Helga forbid her from joining friends at social gatherings and she was lucky to even go to her high school dance.
She says, "My mother was very strict but rightly so, I think. She just didn’t want me in a car with any boys whatsoever until I was 18… I was allowed to go on a date twice - to a dance. But I had to call every 20 minutes. (I had to go) to the payphone. Helga would have shown up at the school, which she did as well, when she didn’t hear from me." But Bullock admits she’s turned into the same overprotective parent since becoming a mum to adopted two-year-old son Louis - and she’s beginning to follow in her mother’s footsteps.
She admits, "I don’t hover, but… he’s always in a helmet and in this bubble that I keep him in."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:24 pm

BRITNEY SPEARS’ ex-husband JASON ALEXANDER is concerned about the pop star’s plans to marry JASON TRAWICK because he’s convinced their relationship is "fake".
The Toxic hitmaker wed childhood pal Alexander on a whim in Las Vegas back in 2004, but the couple had its marriage annulled less than three days later.
Spears’ former agent Trawick proposed to the singer last week (ends16Dec11) - but Alexander fears his one-time love is making another mistake.
He tells UsMagazine.com, "It’s sort of sad… I know everyone wants me to be happy about this, but I am not. I think it’s fake and I think people are afraid to say it… If you look at all the pictures between them there is no connection. They look like they are going through the motions." But not all of the pop star’s exes feel the same way - Kevin Federline, the father of Spears’ sons Sean Preston and Jayden James, recently insisted he was "really happy" for his former wife.
Spears and Federline divorced in 2007.

ROCKERS GWAR PULL EUROPEAN TOUR

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:21 pm

Heavy rockers GWAR have cancelled their upcoming tour of Europe due to slow ticket sales.
The masked group, which was rocked by the tragic death of guitarist Cory Smoot, aka Flattus Maximus, in November (11), recently completed a North American tour and had planned to head to Belgium in January (12) to kick off the next leg of their trek.
But the stars have struggled to fill seats for their 2012 roadshow and have been forced to scrap the whole set of dates as a result.
In a statement, GWAR says, "Ticket sales were slow so promoters started pulling the plug on shows. Finally we had so many blow-outs that we had no choice but to cancel the whole thing.
"We can’t afford to pay to play Europe; after all, we aren’t f**king tourists! But we are extremely disappointed this happened and very sorry for our fans over there, especially in light of recent events. I know everybody over there wanted to say goodbye to Flattus in a way that only a GWAR show could provide, and we were really looking forward to sharing that with you guys…
"Again, we are really sorry this happened, but there was nothing we could do. (We are) very, very bummed… but GWAR still lives, and will return to reap a bloody vengeance too terrible to comprehend."

COMMON AND ANGELOU MAKE AMENDS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:21 pm

Celebrated author MAYA ANGELOU has settled her differences with rapper COMMON, just days after criticising him for featuring her work on a track filled with vulgarities.
Legendary poet Angelou offered up a piece for Common to use on his new song The Dreamer, but she was left "surprised and disappointed" after hearing the final product as it was littered with the derogatory term "n**ger".
However, the two friends decided to clear the air during an appearance on U.S. TV show 106 & Park on Monday (19Dec11), when Angelou clarified her comments.
She said, "I don’t think the word disappointment quite makes it. I was surprised. I know Common is brilliant. He may in fact be close enough to be called a genius…" Common has also brushed off the controversy, insisting he will always appreciate Angelou’s opinions.
He tells the New York Daily News, "Of course we don’t have to agree on everything in life. But we’re in a good space." And in a post on his Facebook.com page, Common adds, "I love you Dr. Angelou! You are truly living history! Thank you for everything!"

BURNS SET TO RETURN TO THE BROTHERS MCMULLEN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:18 pm

Actor/director EDWARD BURNS is working on a sequel to his popular 1995 comedy THE BROTHERS MCMULLEN.
Burns wrote, produced, directed and starred in the project as he was trying to break into the entertainment industry and the family drama, about three Irish Catholic McMullen brothers from Long Island, New York, became a big hit in the independent film circuit, winning top honours at the Sundance Film Festival, the Independent Spirit Awards and the Deauville Film Festival.
The Saving Private Ryan star admits he’s remained good pals with co-stars Jack Mulcahy and Mike McGlone ever since, and he’s keen to have a second installment of The Brothers McMullen ready for release in 2014.
Burns tells BlogTalkRadio.com, "I’ve kind of always stayed in touch with Jack Mulcahy and Mike McGlone from The Brothers McMullen. Your lives get more complicated and you have kids so you don’t get to hang out as much as you do but McMullen was such an amazing chapter in all of our lives. To go from a pack of nobodies who had never been in front of a camera before to all of a sudden that film gave all of us a career. So I think we all feel kind of connected to that.
"I’ve started to sit down and outline a sequel to McMullen. It’ll be 20 years later so I (have) three more years to basically write the screenplay, but I think I’ve got my story down."

WEST EJECTS FAN FROM CONCERT AFTER CARD-THROWING STUNT

KANYE WEST threatened to eject hundreds of fans from his concert with JAY-Z on Friday (16Dec11) after one member of the crowd began throwing business cards onstage.

DUTCH MAGAZINE EDITOR APOLOGISES OVER RIHANNA SLUR

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:27 pm

An editor of a Dutch magazine has apologised to RIHANNA over a racial slur in the publication, insisting it was meant as "a joke".
In the latest issue of Jackie, the Umbrella hitmaker was referred to as a "n**ger b**ch", causing outcry from readers who were shocked by the article.
Now editor-in-chief Eva Hoeke has taken to the magazine’s Facebook.com page to apologise for the remark.
She writes, "While the author meant no harm - the title of the article was intended as a joke - it was a bad joke, to say the least. And that slipped through my, the editor-in-chief’s, fingers. Stupid, painful and sucks for all concerned.
"I hope that you all believe there was absolutely no racist motive behind the choice of words. It was naive to think that this was an acceptable form of slang. You hear it all the time on TV and radio, then your idea of what is normal apparently shifts - but it was especially misguided: there was no malice behind it." Rihanna was less than impressed with the apology and took to Twitter.com to slate Hoeke for the article.
In a series of angry tweets, Rihanna writes, "I hope u can read english, because your magazine is a poor representation of the evolution of human rights! I find you disrespectful, and rather desperate!! You ran out of legit, civilized information to print! "You put two words together, with the intent of abasement, that made no sense…’N**GA B**CH’?!….Well with all respect, on behalf of my race, here are my two words for you…F**K YOU!!!"
