TRUMP FACING LEGAL ACTION FROM DESIGNER LAM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:18 am

Socialite-turned-designer IVANKA TRUMP is facing legal action from fashion mogul DEREK LAM over allegations she copied one of his creations.
Donald Trump’s daughter received a cease-and-desist letter from Lam demanding she withdraw her $150 (£93.75) Cadie wedge shoe from the Ivanka Trump Footwear Collection.
The document suggests the shoe is a copy of Lam’s $780 (£487.50) Ayami design, and Jan-Hendrik Schlottmann, chief executive officer of Derek Lam, tells Women’s Wear Daily, "We have seen very similar copies before but we have never seen a shoe that perfectly copied." However, officials at the distribution company behind Trump’s collection, Marc Fisher Footwear, have refuted the claims.
A statement from the firm reads, "The Lam wedge sandals are of a popular design type that has been used by numerous manufacturers for many decades. There is nothing iconic about the appearance of the Lam sandal. The Ivanka Trump sandals prominently display the Ivanka Trump name, and there can be no confusion as to the source of the Ivanka Trump sandals."

BALDWIN ABANDONS MAYOR BID

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:27 pm

Actor ALEC BALDWIN has given up his plans to run for the post of New York Mayor in 2013 after losing his "appetite" for the role.
The actor revealed earlier this year (11) that he was considering swapping acting for politics and wanted to run in the 2013 election as a Democrat in a bid to succeed current mayor Michael Bloomberg.
But now Baldwin has decided against the idea, revealing on his weekly WNYC radio podcast, "I’ve lost my appetite." The actor is blaming other candidates for putting him off with their eagerness to land the position.
He adds, "They’re like a guy on a date that you can tell he just can’t wait to get his hand up your blouse before even the lights go out in the theatre. They’re all just so horny for it." Baldwin is also keen to keep his role on hit U.S. sitcom 30 Rock, because he no longer believes it would be worth quitting his career to attempt to make a change in society.
He adds, "Give this up (the show) for what? I give up money and fame and position and success; I give up this wonderful life I have now in exchange for the chance to ‘really change things’? "Yeah, I’m not quite sure you can anymore. I’ve got a good job. Am I doing To Kill a Mockingbird? No. I’m doing a sitcom. But we have fun, and it’s a family."

The Spider-Man star was granted a court order against Jean Christophe Prudhon, 51, this month (Dec11) amid allegations he sent her more than 50 love letters and flew to the U.S. in a bid to meet her, even confronting the actress’ mother on the doorstep of her home.
The temporary restraining order was due to expire on Wednesday (21Dec11), but Los Angeles Judge Carol Boas Goodson has now extended it until January (12).
Prudhon must stay at least 100 yards (91 metres) away from Dunst and stop trying to contact her.
The case will go back to court on 9 January (12) and the star’s lawyers will argue in favour of having the restraining order put in place for three years, according to E! Online.

BUSY KRAVITZ LOOKING FOR LOVE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:24 pm

Single singer LENNY KRAVITZ is struggling to find a girlfriend because his touring schedule keeps him so busy.
The Fly Away hitmaker was married to actress Lisa Bonet for six years and they had a daughter, Zoe, before their 1993 divorce.
He went on to date a string of stars including Nicole Kidman and Vanessa Paradis, but has failed to find lasting love - and Kravitz is keen to put single life behind him.
The singer tells CNN talk show host Piers Morgan, "I would like it to change - I think it’s a good time for that to change now. I just love women, they’re incredible. I think they are God’s most amazing creation.
"I wouldn’t say I’m the easiest person to be with… my life is a bit crazy - moving around, different country every day, long tours - it’s not easy to build something. (It’s) extremely (hard) - it’s an occupational hazard." Kravitz also reveals his father Sy, who walked out on his mother in 1985, told him "you’ll do it too" and the rocker is determined to break free from the prophecy of bad relationships.
He adds, "It’s something that I have fought and that I consciously continue to fight. I don’t think I realised what that moment did until so many years later. It put something in me, it was just bizarre. I did let him know that it was really detrimental."

MORRISSEY ACCUSES VENUE STAFF OF ‘ASSAULTING’ FANS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:21 pm

MORRISSEY has spoken out to explain why he cut short the final gig on his recent North American tour, alleging fans who tried to shake his hand were "unashamedly assaulted" and "choked to death" by the venue’s security staff.
The former The Smiths frontman walked offstage midway through an encore in Royal Oak, Michigan on Sunday night (18Dec11), the final gig on his 22-date trek.
Now he has told fans he abandoned the show as he was disgusted at the behaviour of some security staff, and he’s urged them to complain to venue bosses about the incident.
In a statement, the singer writes, "I stopped the show at the Royal Oak Theater in Michigan in consideration of the audience - who were being unashamedly assaulted by the in-house security. It is difficult to watch this happen, especially when our friends… are being forcibly choked to death simply for being there.
"If such attacks happened at the opera or in a night-club, the victims would rightfully sue. Strangely, in-house security sense that they have freedom to manhandle patrons of ‘rock’ shows. I wonder why? You all know how to contact the Royal Oak Theater."

JAMES’ HUSBAND TO REMAIN CONSERVATOR

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:21 pm

A judge in California has ruled ETTA JAMES’ husband will remain the conservator of her estate following a legal challenge from her son.
The veteran singer is terminally ill and was admitted to hospital this week (beg19Dec11) as she continues her fight with leukaemia.
James’ health crisis came to light earlier this year (11) after her husband of 41 years, Artis Mills, filed legal documents asking a judge to grant him control of $1 million (£666,666) of the star’s finances.
He claimed the 73 year old had become too ill to oversee her own affairs, but the request was challenged by James’ son, Donto, who alleged that in 2008, his mother asked for him to be handed power of attorney if she becomes incapacitated.
A judge in Riverside County, California has now ruled Mills can remain the conservator of his wife’s estate so he can continue making financial and health decisions for his partner, and released $350,000 (£218,750) of her money to cover medical costs.
James has been receiving round-the-clock care at home, but Donto has revealed he asked for his mother to be admitted to a local hospital for a thorough check-up.
He tells the Los Angeles Times, "The only issue is my mother going into the hospital. I begged the doctors to do it this one time to make sure everything is OK… Mr. Mills’ aim is to keep her alive as long as possible. That’s my aim too."

MELDRUM UNDERGOES SUCCESSFUL SURGERY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:18 pm

Australian music mogul MOLLY MELDRUM has undergone successful surgery to treat injuries he sustained in a fall at his home.
The 65 year old was admitted to hospital in Melbourne last week (ends18Dec11) and placed in an induced coma after falling from a ladder while putting up Christmas decorations.
Meldrum’s condition was downgraded from critical to stable and he was deemed well enough to undergo a series of operations on Thursday (22Dec11).
His brother Brian has now confirmed the four-and-a-half-hour surgery was a success, but the star is now back in intensive care as he recuperates.
Brian tells the Herald Sun, "Surgeons were successful in repairing a broken collarbone, and extensive breaks and fractures he suffered to his left ribcage. A metal plate was screwed into place to reconnect his clavicle bone, and soluble screws and plates were used to repair the damage to his ribs.
"The operation on his ribcage will make it easier for Molly to breathe, and will bring forward the time when he can be taken off the ventilator.
"Molly’s condition is still considered to be serious, and he was returned to intensive care after the operation. However, the success of today’s operation will assist greatly in his overall recovery."
