BLACK LAUNCHES OWN RECORD LABEL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:22 pm

PIXIES frontman FRANK BLACK has launched his own record label.
The Monkey Gone to Heaven singer recently founded The Bureau and he’s now in the process of recruiting new talent with limited resources.
Black tells NME.com, "Running a label today isn’t that different than at any other time. There’s less money floating around, but I think it’s a good thing. I think it’s more honest. It just puts the pressure on everybody to be good." The rocker is also hoping his new project will make it easier for him to get his own records made, adding, "More traditional record companies find it a little overwhelming that I come up with another record every nine months." But fans shouldn’t get too excited about the label’s impact on the Pixies - Black admits the group has plans to release new material, but not through his imprint.
He adds, "Pixies will either do something really traditional, with a big old record company, or something a lot more radical. Hopefully the radical approach. But The Bureau has other things on its plate."

EASTWOOD LAUGHS OFF REPORTS OF RUNNING FOR U.S. VICE PRESIDENT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:20 pm

CLINT EASTWOOD has laughed off reports suggesting he was once a U.S. Vice President contender, insisting he had no idea top Republican politicians were eyeing him for the powerful role.
Last month (Oct11), new documents revealed George H.W. Bush’s administration had been in search of a candidate who could boost the politician’s poll ratings in the months leading up to the 1988 election - and Eastwood’s name was thrown into the mix as an option.
But the conservative Dirty Harry star insists he never would have settled for the back seat job as Vice President - even if he was asked.
He says, "I would have said I wanted to be the first part of the ticket. Why would I want to play a supporting role?"

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:20 pm

MICKEY ROURKE is battling a stress-related eye infection following a tough film shoot in Indonesia.

KEATON BATTLED BULIMIA IN SECRET

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:20 pm

Hollywood veteran DIANE KEATON secretly battled bulimia for five years after a Broadway director offered her the lead role in hit musical HAIR on the condition that she slimmed down.
The Oscar winner, who stands tall at five foot seven inches (1.7 metres), weighed 140 pounds (63.5 kilograms) when she landed her big break on the New York stage at the age of 19.
Thrilled about the prospect of making her name as an actress, the star was stunned when an unnamed director targeted her weight.
Keaton admits the criticism deeply affected her and she began suffering from the eating disorder, binging on food before forcing herself to vomit, in order to maintain her slender frame.
Speaking about the dangerous diet method, the 65 year old tells People magazine, "I don’t think it was called bulimia then. It was just this trick you could do. It’s a horrible problem. Ugly and awful." Keaton kept the news under wraps for decades until deciding to go public with her health woes in a new memoir, titled Then Again, and she credits regular sessions of psychoanalysis with helping to put an end to her image issues.

RATNER RESIGNS AS OSCARS PRODUCER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:13 am

Moviemaker BRETT RATNER has resigned as producer of the 2012 Oscars.
The Rush Hour director’s decision comes just days after he upset gay rights activists by using a homosexual slur during a question-and-answer session to promote his new film Tower Heist.
Ratner apologised for using the word "fag" at the Arclight cinema event in Hollywood on Friday (04Nov11), insisting it was "a dumb way of expressing myself".
But the online fuss made by his remark prompted film writers and Oscars bloggers to suggest Ratner was the wrong man to oversee the awards.
Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Tom Sherak stood by the filmmaker and insisted Ratner would not be asked to step down over the blunder.
Sherak said, "Brett made a very inappropriate remark, a remark that goes against our most important beliefs and the beliefs of the creative community we represent. He very quickly issued an apology because he knew he had made a mistake." But, upon receiving the moviemaker’s resignation on Tuesday afternoon (08Nov11), Sherak released a follow-up statement to the media.
He said, "He did the right thing for the Academy and for himself. Words have meaning, and they have consequences. Brett is a good person, but his comments were unacceptable. We all hope this will be an opportunity to raise awareness about the harm that is caused by reckless and insensitive remarks, regardless of the intent." Outspoken Ratner was a surprise and controversial hire for the Academy earlier this year (11) when it was announced he would produce the Oscars with Don Mischer.

The star had been partying with friends at a Miami, Florida nightclub when she was rushed to the hospital after hitting her skull in a mystery incident.

British rocker PETE TOWNSHEND was forced to miss the launch of his new cancer charity in Los Angeles on Friday (04Nov11) because of a visa problem.
The rocker was expected to join The Who bandmate Roger Daltrey to announce the launch of the UCLA Daltrey/Townshend Teen & Young Adult Cancer Program, but instead he asked Robert Plant to take his place when he realised he wouldn’t be able to make the trip.
An expired visa kept him from showing up in person, but he taped a video message, stating, "Let’s hope in the USA it can catch fire the way it did here (in England), because it does save lives." Daltrey and Townshend’s Teenage Cancer Trust initiative in the U.K. has been a big hit and Daltrey invited a young Atlanta, Georgia high school student onstage to hammer home how the charity helps cancer sufferers.
The teenager, a drummer, was diagnosed with a brain tumour when she was 15. She has been declared cancer-free for the last 18 months.
Daltrey told the gathered media, "Look at her now, 17 years old - a complete success story."

FOX LAUNCHES COUNTERSUIT IN ALLEGED BUS ATTACK

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:10 pm

Actor MATTHEW FOX has launched a countersuit against the female bus driver who allegedly assaulted him during an incident in August (11).
The Lost star had attempted to board a party bus in Ohio in the early hours of 28 August (11) when he was confronted by driver Heather Bormann because his name was not on the private guestlist.

COLFER CONCERNED ABOUT FAN BACKLASH TO GAY SEX GLEE EPISODE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:10 pm

GLEE star CHRIS COLFER fears a backlash from fans of the show when his gay character loses his virginity in an episode to air in the U.S. on Tuesday night (08Nov11).
The actor, who plays Kurt Hummel in the hit TV musical series, will get physical with co-star Darren Criss on the show, titled The First Time - and Colfer doesn’t quite know what to expect from fans.
He tells Billboard.com, "It covers a very sensitive topic, and I think the show is infamous for handling sensitive topics with care. When I found out the concept for The First Time, I remember Ryan (Murphy, the show’s creator) came up to Darren and I and told us what was going on, Darren and I looked at each other with huge, wide eyes and went, ‘What? That’s going to happen?’ "We got a little scared when we first found out, but when we got the script of course it was fine. Everything that I thought would scare me and make me cringe was sweet and emotional.
"We get negative reactions if I wear an orange scarf with white pants! So I’m sure there will be some negative feedback, there always is no matter what the episode is about. I think it’s a huge deal that this is the first time something like this has been shown on television, but I think it’s handled so delicately and sweetly that I don’t think it will have quite the shock factor that people are thinking. I mean, I could be wrong."
