Singer SELENA GOMEZ has thrown her support behind a new mobile phone application which helps users keep in touch with friends and family members.
The Who Says hitmaker has signed on as a key investor in the company Postcard On the Run and she’ll work with business bosses to aid in the development process.
The application gives smart phone users the ability to take pictures and send them to a virtual network, where they can then be made into postcards and sent anywhere in the world.
Speaking about her involvement, the Disney star says, "I’ve always loved the old-fashioned touch of sending real postcards, but I never have time anymore with my busy travel schedule. Now it’s easy.
"The one thing that I always have with me is my smart phone. In just seconds, I can send personalised photo postcards to my family and friends right from my phone. It’s a new way to stay in touch the old school way."

LADY GAGA’s former creative director LAURIEANN GIBSON has no hard feelings about dissolving her partnership with the pop superstar, insisting she is "extremely proud" of the singer.
Gibson helped the Paparazzi hitmaker develop her signature style and directed concerts and music videos as Gaga’s longtime collaborator. Their professional relationship recently unravelled amid reports of differing opinions, but the choreographer insists she will never speak ill of her former partner.
In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Gibson says, "I am fulfilled with the work I have done with choreographing all of the iconic moves, creative directing the artist, appearances, shows, directing the tour, music videos, and the HBO Monster Ball, which was a culmination of my work as its creator and director.
"Recently, Lady Gaga was motivated to take the helm of the creative direction of her career and, as such, I decided to step away. I am extremely proud of her, and, in stepping away, I wish her all the best." Gaga has not yet made a public comment about her split from Gibson.

Rap mogul RUSSELL SIMMONS took a step back from the forefront of the Occupy Wall Street protests in New York on Thursday (17Nov11) as he tried to avoid arrest in order to attend hip-hop icon HEAVY D’s funeral on Friday (18Nov11).
The Def Jam Records co-founder has been a key supporter of the widespread Occupy movements calling for an end to corporate greed and he joined campaigners on Thursday as they marched in Manhattan’s Financial District as part of the global so-called Day of Action.
In a series of posts on his Twitter.com page, he wrote, "I have very bad feeling about the march on financial center. Police look really ready to fight… Prayers that this doesn’t get ugly. Please people non-violence." But Simmons decided to keep a slight distance from the more vocal demonstrators as they clashed with riot police so as not to land himself in trouble with cops - and risk having to skip Heavy D’s remembrance service.
Simmons later uploaded a photo showing a number of protesters who had been arrested during the demonstrations, and wrote, "These people going to jail!! God bless them".
He continued, "my political director Michael Skolnik said I can’t get arrested cause I gotta go to heavy’s funeral… I loved that man and I would prefer not to go to jail. Heavy always looked out for me. Now he keeps me out of jail." Protesters called for the Day of Action to mark the two-month anniversary of the Occupy Wall Street campaign, which kickstarted the Occupy movement around the world.
Heavy D, who died last week (08Nov11), will be laid to rest in New York on Friday.

Rocker MICHAEL STIPE was surprised die-hard R.E.M. fans didn’t anticipate the band’s recent split - because the trio dropped a handful of clues before making its official announcement.
The rockers shocked the music world in September (11) by declaring they were to disband after more than three decades together.
But Losing My Religion hitmaker Stipe reveals observant fans should have seen the split coming in the titles and lyrics of their final studio album Collapse Into Now.
He explains, "The three of us kind of arrived at it, around the same time, kind of organically. When we were on tour in 2008, it became a option. It wasn’t like there was a day, or a moment, when one of us just sat down and said, ‘OK, that’s it, we’re going to call it a day.’ "That record, I think, was filled with (hints). I mean it’s called Collapse Into Now. You know, I’m waving goodbye on the cover of it. But no one got that."

Irishmen LIAM NEESON and GABRIEL BYRNE’s controversial play JAMES X is heading to New York.
The one-man production, fronted by actor Gerard Mannix Flynn, explores the issues of physical and sexual abuse within the Roman Catholic Church and features the story of a man about to provide evidence to a tribunal about the mistreatment of children.
The Usual Suspects star Bryne will direct the project and Neeson will co-produce with officials at the Culture Project, a performance organisation which focuses on human rights issues.
The critically-acclaimed play, which was first staged in Ireland in 2003, will open at the 45 Bleecker Theatre on 9 December (11).

MICHELLE WILLIAMS has turned the set of her upcoming WIZARD OF OZ prequel into a magical family affair by inviting her young daughter MATILDA to the set.
The actress has really enjoyed shooting Sam Raimi’s forthcoming fantasy film as it’s helping her six-year-old daughter understand why the fictional Oz is such a wonderful place.
She tells 24 Frames, "It’s been such an amazing move for us as a family. It’s a really happy place to go to work and a happy place for her to come visit." And Williams is glad she can take her daughter to work after insisting she stays away from more serious locations.
She adds, "The (My Week With) Marilyn sets and the Blue Valentine sets - they aren’t really ideal places for children. She can still come visit, but she can’t really get comfortable and hang out for a while. This really integrates my life and my work in a great way." And Williams admits she was well prepared to play Glinda the Good Witch - because Matilda loves Judy Garland’s classic movie musical The Wizard Of Oz, where the good-natured character was introduced to the cinema world.
She adds, "I’ve already watched The Wizard Of Oz a lot, because it’s one of my daughter’s favourites." Matilda is Williams’ daughter with late actor Heath Ledger.

Director/producer RON HOWARD is encouraging fans of his cult U.S. comedy show ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT to continue voicing their desire to see a new series and movie adaptation in an effort to ensure producers follow through with comeback plans.
The hit sitcom, which aired from 2003 to 2006 and starred Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi and Will Arnett, won critical acclaim for Howard and the cast, but it didn’t make it past cult status among viewers and was cancelled.
Fans have long been campaigning for TV bosses to make a film version of the show, and their wish was granted last month (Oct11) when Bateman confirmed the stars will be reuniting for 10 new episodes and a big screen outing in 2013.
Howard served as narrator and executive producer on the show and he is looking forward to regrouping with the all-star cast - but he insists devotees have to continue raving about the comedy just in case TV executives change their minds.
He tells Eonline.com, "The whole reason they’re even thinking about an Arrested movie is because of you (the fans).
"It sounds a little bit corny, but a lot of the reason the (cast and producers) want to do (the Arrested Development movie) is that they really feel like they want to respect what the fans are saying.
"Really, the fans have kept it going, not only in terms of executives realising there’s a real yearning for more Arrested Development, but also to just keep encouraging the creative team and keep making it pressing." But Howard assures fans the production ball has begun rolling: "I just had dinner with Jason Bateman in L.A. The (Arrested Development) creative team is completely fired up about it and sort of tidying up the business side."

Actor KEVIN BACON has launched a new campaign against the proposed Keystone XL oil pipeline in a bid to protect the rare spirit bear.
Environmental activists have been campaigning to prevent the building of the pipeline, which will transport oil reserves from Canada through the heart of the U.S. to the Gulf of Mexico, and last week (10Nov11), U.S. President Barack Obama shelved the controversial plan until after the 2012 election - to allow for a review of the proposal.
However, the delay has conservationists worried the added time will give oil giants a chance to gain more support.
And the Footloose star has now joined forces with officials at the Natural Resources Defense Council in an effort to preserve the spirit bear’s habitat and protect the species from certain extinction if the plan goes through.
In a new online ad, he says, "In British Columbia a native legend says that when the great glaciers retreated a white bear was left behind to remind us that this lush rainforest was once covered in ice and snow. Today, only 400 of these spirit bears still survive, along a wild untamed coastline that has sustained the people of many first nations for thousands of years. But the land of the spirit bears is facing a grave new threat.
"The Enbridge corporation is planning a pipeline that would carry billions of gallons of tar sands oil into the heart of the spirit bear coast. Enbridge pipelines have had more than 700 spills in the past 10 years. The new pipeline would fill super tankers with the world’s dirtiest oil, the ships would then have to navigate a passage narrower than the passage that sank the Exxon Valdez (ship). A single spill could blanket the spirit bear coast in a matter of days. What will become of the spirit bear?" Bacon isn’t the only actor to voice his disapproval of the pipeline plan - eco-warriors Robert Redford, Alec Baldwin, John Cusack and Mark Ruffalo have all taken a stand as well.

MICHAEL JACKSON’s mother KATHERINE is "extremely displeased" by reports which suggest crew members who worked on the KING OF POP’s tribute concert last month (Oct11) have not been paid in full.
Staff who manned the event in Wales in October (11) have taken to Twitter.com to accuse organisers at Global Live of failing to compensate them for their work.
Jackson, who helped organise the show, is upset to hear about the complaints and hopes the situation will be rectified.
A lawyer for the Jackson matriarch tells TMZ.com, "After Mrs. Jackson did all she could to help promote and make this a great event for all of Michael’s fans, she is extremely displeased to hear that concert promoters have allegedly failed to pay their bills.
"Katherine is hoping that they step up and take care of their obligations." Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green were among the acts who performed at Michael Forever - The Tribute Concert in Cardiff.

Pop star RIHANNA has been criticised by anti-smoking campaigners for lighting up a cigarette in her latest music video.
The Umbrella star recently filmed the promo for her single We Found Love in Ireland and she is seen smoking in the footage.
She has also released a series of publicity shots for her new album, Talk That That, and the provocative pictures show her sitting on a sidewalk and smoking, while others see the star reclining on a staircase with a cigarette dangling from her lips.
Officials at the Ulster Cancer Foundation of Ireland have now taken aim at the singer and accused her of promoting the bad habit to her young fans.
Doreen Reegan, a spokesperson for the organisation, tells Britain’s Daily Mail, "Three-quarters of adult smokers start the habit as teenagers, which is why it is so irresponsible of Rihanna to influence her young fan base in this way… After so much hype around the filming of the video it was very disappointing to see Rihanna so blatantly smoking throughout it.
"Artists such as Rihanna are held in high esteem and regarded as role models by millions of young people."

Singer PETER ANDRE is pursuing legal action over reports his ex-wife KATIE PRICE handed him "maintenance" payments after their split.
The Mysterious Girl hitmaker, who separated from the former glamour model in 2009, is adamant he didn’t take any monthly pay outs from his former partner after the marriage broke down and now plans to consult his lawyers over the matter.
His spokesperson says, "Peter is furious about these allegations. He will be taking the situation further legally." A statement from his representative adds, "Peter has never received one penny for maintenance and has never received a £6,000,000 settlement from Katie Price. Peter finds it offensive that things such as this can be printed without checking facts." Meanwhile, Price has refused to comment on the rumours, with her spokesperson stating, "The arrangements that Katie Price has with Mr. Andre are confidential." The couple shares joint custody of their son Junior, six, and daughter Princess Tiaamii, four. Price also has a nine-year-old son, Harvey, with British soccer star Dwight Yorke.

NOEL GALLAGHER was left feeling uncomfortable during a shopping trip in New York on Monday (14Nov11) when a store worker encouraged him to buy a pair of shoes which were too big.
The rocker is currently touring the U.S. but he took time out from his busy schedule to explore the Big Apple - and he was baffled by one overeager shop assistant.
In a post on his blog, Gallagher writes, "I’m in some shop or other not showing much interest in the merchandise and the usual scenario starts to unfold. You know the one? Shop assistant: ‘Hi… Can I help you with anything today?’ Me: ‘Erm… No thanks… I’m just looking.’ "Shop assistant: ‘Are you looking for anything in particular… A jacket? Some jeans? A sweater?… How about these sneakers? These are really cool… What size are you?’ Me: ‘40, if you must know.’ Shop assistant: ‘Great, I’ll go get you a pair.’ "Now at this point I would ordinarily wait ’til this idiot had wafted behind the curtain and leg it (leave), but for some unknown reason I sat on a little leather stool and waited… and waited. Just as I’m about to walk out he re-appears box in hand.
"So, as luck would have it, they were too big. Then - with a straight face (and I’m not joking) - he said this… ‘You know… Baggy shoes are very popular right now.’ Un-f**kin-believable."

A placard made by JOHN LENNON has pulled in nearly $160,000 (£100,000) at an auction in London.
The sign, which reads ‘Bed Peace’, was created by the late Beatle during his ‘bed-in’ peace protest at a Canadian hotel with his wife Yoko Ono in 1969.
The placard was sold by Christie’s auction house in London on Tuesday (15Nov11) to an anonymous telephone bidder for $155,600 (£97,250).
A letter written by Sir Paul McCartney offering an audition for the drummer role in the Beatles also went under the hammer for $55,760 (£34,850).
Christie’s director Neil Roberts says, "We are thrilled with the results of the Rock and Pop Memorabilia sale which was led by pieces relating to important moments in the development of The Beatles."

The U.S. release of NICOLE SCHERZINGER’s first solo album has been postponed until next year (12).
Killer Love has been marred by delays after it was originally scheduled to hit stores in November (11) and then pushed back to December (11).
Now the former Pussycat Dolls star confirms her debut record won’t be launched in America until 2012, but The X Factor judge is not upset by the delay.
She tells the Hollywood Reporter, "You know what, I’ve been waiting for it so long, I don’t even care about a couple more months. What’s the difference? It’s coming out when it’s ready to come out.
"I’m doing the best music I can for my fans. Music that they can relate to, that they can be inspired by, that they’ll fall in love with, that will ignite them… When I’m not at X Factor, I’m at the studio at night. I feel amazing about (the album)." Killer Love has already been released in several international markets and peaked at number eight in the U.K. album chart.

PAUL ANKA has returned to Poland to play a show he cancelled 48 years ago when U.S. President JOHN F. KENNEDY was assassinated.
The crooner was just 22 when he called off a concert in Warsaw’s Sala Kongresow venue at the last minute after learning Kennedy had been shot dead in Texas in 1963.
Anka, now 77, arrived in the city on Tuesday (15Nov11) for a belated gig in the same concert hall where he was originally due to perform.
The veteran singer refused take part in any interviews to ensure his voice was on form for the Wednesday (16Nov11) show.
Anka’s assistant Julie Zhu explains, "We just arrived in Warsaw and Mr. Anka needs to rest his voice and is not doing any interviews. The tour is going very well."

The woman who accused teenage singer JUSTIN BIEBER of fathering her baby has dropped her paternity lawsuit.
Single mother Mariah Yeater quietly withdrew her request for a paternity test and child support last week (ends13Nov11).
The 20 year old hit headlines earlier this month (Nov11) after claiming the pop star impregnated her in a backstage romp following a Los Angeles concert last year (10).
Yeater told reporters she had evidence proving Bieber was the father of her four-month-old son Tristyn, but the singer vehemently denied her allegations.
The Baby hitmaker agreed to submit to a DNA test to disprove her story while his lawyers threatened to take legal action against Yeater to "defend and protect" the singer.
