WALL LAUNCHES RAP MUSIC MOBILE APPLICATION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:43 am

Hip-hop star PAUL WALL has launched a new musical application for mobile phones to help aspiring rappers hone their skills.
The Grillz hitmaker has partnered with Jump Shot Media to create Battle Rap Stars, a new programme which uses voice-analysis to assign users a score based on their rhythm, rhyme and vocal presence.
The game requires players to compete against five other rappers before making it to a final round, which features a clash with Wall. The application also contains a karaoke mode for those struggling to come up with their own original lyrics.
Wall says, "I am incredibly excited to be part of this game. The technology is amazing and the game is just plain fun. Whether you are trying to perfect your skills on the mic or just want to have fun, this game really delivers."

TEMPAH EXCITED ABOUT BIRTHDAY GIG

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:43 am

TINIE TEMPAH is set to mark his 23rd birthday on tour - because he finds nights off from performing "boring".
Rather than mark the 7 November (11) with a big party, the rapper is scheduled to take to the stage in Manchester, England for an evening with fans.
He tells Britain’s Evening Standard magazine, "Nights off are boring. I can’t have a house party because people will steal things. I can’t have a normal party because I just hate saying hello to everybody all the time, it’s just jarring. And there’d be paparazzi outside.
"So I may as well do a show and get 15,000 people to sing Happy Birthday and have a crazy after-party, where I just sneak in with a hoodie and get up to loads of carnage. It’s potentially one of the best birthdays ever."

MANILOW DELIVERS ON MUSICAL INSTRUMENT PROMISE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:43 am

Veteran crooner BARRY MANILOW has made good on his promise to donate $300,000 (£185,000)-worth of musical instruments to a high school in Missouri following the devastating tornadoes which flattened a small town earlier this year (11).
The natural disaster swept through Joplin in May (11), killing 162 people and leaving others homeless, and the singer was so touched by the tragedy, he vowed to help restock Joplin High School’s music department with new instruments via his non-profit organisation, the Manilow Music Project.
Manilow delivered three truckloads of gifts, including a concert grand piano, to the school last week (27Oct11).
A statement from the crooner reads, "I know first-hand how invaluable music can be to get you through life’s tough times. It is an honour and a privilege to help these kids after such a disaster."

MURRAY DEFENCE WITNESS HELD IN CONTEMPT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:40 am

A key witness in DR. CONRAD MURRAY’s involuntary manslaughter trial has been held in contempt of court and fined $1,000 (£625) for refusing to heed judge MICHAEL PASTOR’s warning not to talk about a conversation he had with the defendant.
As the prosecution and defence teams wrapped up their cases in court on Monday (31Oct11) before turning to jurors for a decision, there was final drama during expert witness Dr. Paul White’s latest day in court, when he repeatedly violated orders to refrain from testifying about private conversations with Murray.
White is the defence team’s final witness.
It’s the second time Pastor has held White in contempt - he used a profanity during a heated exchange with a member of the prosecution team on 21 October (11). The judge recalled White back to court for a hearing on 16 November (11).
On Monday, the courtroom was briefly cleared after Dr. White referred to a conversation he had had with Murray, who is accused of administering the fatal dose of anaesthetic propofol which cost pop star Michael Jackson his life. Judge Pastor told him he could not offer up private responses he’d had from Murray.
Less than two hours later, White upset Pastor further when he testified he had additional information to share with the jury but the judge told him he couldn’t.
He was held in contempt and fined.

HALL HOUNDED FREARS FOR AUDITION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:37 am

British actress REBECCA HALL hounded director STEPHEN FREARS for the role of a tenacious stripper in LAY OF THE FAVOURITE, after learning he had his mind set on an American to play the part.
The Prestige star fell in love with the tale of Beth Raymer, an exotic dancer who became a professional sports gambler, and met Frears to discuss the role - but he rejected her because she wasn’t American.
Hall, however, refused to give up - and pestered the auteur for another audition when they were both in New York.
She tells Britain’s Telegraph Magazine, "When I went to meet Stephen, he said…, ‘Well, it’s very nice to meet you - but you’re everything that I’m not looking for, for this role, and I will never cast you.’ "Literally, for six months he wouldn’t let me read. He kept saying, ‘Americans only…’" But Hall won him over by dressing like a hooker when Frears finally agreed to see her again: "I did all the things that I’ve never really done before; I wore the tightest jeans I could find and stuffed my bra with socks and curled my hair. Stephen was even worse than before. He said, ‘So here I am against my will. I know you’re wrong for this, so let’s get it over with.’" But, despite his reservations, Frears was wowed by Hall’s audition - and quickly admitted he was wrong.
The director adds, "She was absolutely tremendous. She was so convincing and outrageous and extraordinary. So I lost and I won."

KARDASHIAN WEDDING PLANNER SAD ABOUT DIVORCE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:37 am

The woman who helped turn KIM KARDASHIAN’s nuptials into a fairytale has spoken of her sadness about the socialite’s divorce plans.
The reality TV star confirmed reports she and her husband of just 72 days Kris Humphries have split on Monday (31Oct11) and the couple’s wedding planner Sharon Sacks was stunned by the news.
She tells Life & Style magazine, "If I said I wasn’t sad about them splitting, I wouldn’t be telling the truth. It is always sad and very disheartening when two beautiful people so in love for many reasons realise that although they care for each other, they are not destined to be life partners." Sacks and her team oversaw the lavish 20 August (11) nuptials in Montecito, California, and she insists the divorce news hasn’t ruined her great memories from the day.
She adds, "They were a joy to work with. What we created together was absolutely amazing, so unique and so special."
