The daughter of British actress MEERA SYAL has been cleared of allegations she attacked a male model with a glass at a friend’s birthday party.
Chameli Bhatia, 19, faced a charge of actual bodily harm after she was accused of wounding ­schoolmate Christian Pannell, who needed 14 stitches to treat cuts to his face.
Bhatia insisted the incident was an accident, and on Thursday (03Nov11), she was found not guilty of attacking Pannell.
Syal, famous for her comedy roles on U.K. TV, wept with relief when she heard the news in London’s Snaresbrook crown court, and told reporters afterwards, "We always believed in her innocence.â��

ROBERT PATTINSON suffered a scare on Wednesday (02Nov11) when his quick-thinking security guard tackled an unruly fan who rushed the TWILIGHT star in Los Angeles.
The actor was leaving a TV studio in Hollywood after filming an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! when an unnamed young man broke away from a crowd of waiting fans and ran towards the star.
The scene descended into chaos as a bodyguard stepped in and wrestled the man to the ground while onlookers watched in horror.
But Pattinson remained in good spirits and was snapped smiling as he greeted fans before he was escorted safely to his car.

AMY WINEHOUSE’s soon-to-be-released new song contains a poignant tribute from rapper NAS which was recorded after her tragic death.
The singer passed away in July (11) and her family plans to release an album of previously-unheard material next month (Dec11) in her memory.
Two of the songs aired on U.K. radio for the first time on Thursday (03Nov11), and Like Smoke - a collaboration with hip-hop star Nas - was one of the tracks played.
The song was originally recorded by Winehouse back in 2008, but includes a rap by Nas, which was recorded more recently, and he includes lyrics referencing the late star’s passing.
He raps, "I be out in London, Camden/ Huntin’ for the answers/ Why did God take away the homie?/ I can’t stand it/ I’m a firm believer that we all meet up in eternity." A portion of the profits from Lioness: Hidden Treasures will go to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, a charity set up in her honour.

SOUNDGARDEN star CHRIS CORNELL scrapped a solo show in Nashville, Tennessee on Wednesday (02Nov11) after falling sick with laryngitis.
The rocker, who recently relaunched Soundgarden with a new tour, was due to perform at the city’s War Memorial Auditorium, but the concert was called off after the star fell ill.
Cornell has apologised to fans and revealed he caught a nasty bug from his children, writing in a post on his Twitter.com page, "Caught cold from my kids - have larayngitis (sic) - so sorry to Nashville fans - will make it up to u as soon as I can." A statement posted on the rocker’s website reads, "Due to illness, tonight’s Chris Cornell’s show at War Memorial Auditorium in Nashville, TN has been postponed. A new date will be announced as soon as possible."

LOU REED has received a barrage of "threatening" letters from METALLICA fans angry over his collaboration with the rockers.
The veteran musician teamed up with the group to record new album Lulu, but Reed admits many of the band’s devotees are unhappy about the record and have sent him reams of unpleasant messages.
He tells USA Today, "(They) are threatening to shoot me, and that’s only because I showed up. They haven’t even heard the record yet, and they’re recommending various forms of torture and death." However, the Perfect Day hitmaker is not letting the threats upset him, adding, "I don’t have any fans left. After (1975 album) Metal Machine Music, they all fled. Who cares? I’m essentially in this for the fun of it." Metallica star Lars Ulrich has also shrugged off the negative response from fans, insisting they are used to criticism over the band’s choices: "In 1984, when hard-core Metallica fans heard acoustic guitars on Fade to Black, there was a nuclear meltdown in the heavy-metal community. There have been many more since then.
"This (album) is something they’ve never heard. Nobody hears rhythms or delivers poetry the way Lou does. It’s not for everyone, but I think it’s a fantastic record."

BILLY CRUDUP has struck up a romance with MERYL STREEP�s actress daughter GRACE GUMMER, according to a U.S. report.
The Watchmen star appeared alongside Gummer in a production of Tom Stoppard’s play Arcadia on Broadway earlier this year (11), and they are now said to be dating.
Crudup and Gummer have been spotted together on numerous occasions and even attended a movie screening in New York together on Tuesday (01Nov11), according to New York Post gossip column PageSix.
Crudup has previously dated Weeds star Mary-Louise Parker, the mother of his son William, and actress Claire Danes.

Supermodels NAOMI CAMPBELL, HELENA CHRISTENSEN and CINDY CRAWFORD have dressed up as 1980s icons DURAN DURAN for the band’s new video.
The group of catwalk stars also includes Eva Herzigova and Yasmin Le Bon, wife of Duran Duran frontman Simon, and they are seen wearing the band’s trademark suits and playing instruments in the promo for Girl Panic! The shoot was conducted in conjunction with Harper’s Bazaar magazine and directed by Jonas Ackerlund, who worked on Lady Gaga’s Paparazzi and Telephone videos.
Duran Duran keyboardist Nick Rhodes explains, "Harpers had approached us about collaborating with the magazine on something really special… I’d had had this crazy idea for a video for the song Girl Panic! that looked fantastic on paper but that I thought in reality would be impossible to pull off.
"The idea was to recreate a day-in-the-life of the band, with five of the world’s greatest supermodels playing all of us. (They) loved the idea of doing a cover shoot within the video itself - and so it all began." Singer Simon Le Bon adds, "We have made some pretty ambitious videos over the years, but this one was certainly the most challenging to date.
"Co-ordinating the schedules of five of the world’s biggest supermodels, Jonas, and the band was no easy task - but we couldn’t be happier with the finished film. It has all of the ingredients that we feel are important - it’s humorous, glamorous, sexy and very Duran Duran."

HUGH GRANT made the most of a break from shooting upcoming movie CLOUD ATLAS to visit his new daughter in London on Wednesday (02Nov11).
The actor has been busy filming the drama in Berlin, Germany but he left the shoot to see his one-month-old daughter in Fulham, West London.
Arriving at the property in a Ferrari, the proud dad told reporters, "I’m only here for 24 hours. I’m filming in Germany. I’ve come back to protect my baby." Grant’s visit came just a day after he confirmed he had become a first-time father following a "fleeting affair" with a woman, believed to be former model Tinglan Hong.

JOHN LENNON’s son Julian is convinced he has been "snubbed" and "ignored" by SIR PAUL McCARTNEY after the former BEATLE failed to invite him to his recent wedding.
The music legend married American heiress Nancy Shevell in London on 2 October (11) and followed it up with a second reception in New York later that month (Oct11).
Lennon claims he wasn’t invited to either of the wedding parties, and alleges he was "snubbed" at the London premiere of Martin Scorsese’s film, George Harrison: Living In The Material World, last month (Oct11) and the five-year anniversary performance of the Beatles musical Love in Las Vegas in June (11).
A message on Lennon’s personal Facebook.com page, obtained by Dailymail.co.uk, was posted on 23 October (11), the day after McCartney’s New York wedding reception, and appears to take aim at the veteran star.
The post reads, "Wow… Snubbed at Macca’s wedding, snubbed at the anniversary of LOVE in Vegas! Snubbed at Macca’s wedding reception in NYC, last night.
"Snubbed at George’s film premiere… What have I done to be ignored in such a way?… I was not invited to ANY of these events… I thought we had a relationship… Obviously not… Gimme some truth… Maybe now it’s time to tell the truth… I & my mother will not be eradicated from history… How dare they." Julian is Lennon’s son from his first marriage to Cynthia Powell.

JASON BONHAM has cancelled a show in Connecticut with his LED ZEPPELIN tribute band amid concerns over the icy weather.
The state was hit by a massive snowstorm over the weekend (29-30Oct11) and many homes were left without electricity as the wintry conditions caused power outages.
Bonham, son of Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, was due to play a concert in Hartford on Wednesday (02Nov11) with his group Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience, but the show at the city’s Webster Theatre was called off due to the bad weather.
A post on the band’s Twitter.com page, reads, "Attention Hartford. Tonight’s show Webster Theater has been postponed due to extreme weather in the area. Refunds are available. New date TBA (to be announced)."

JUSTIN BIEBER made a prank call to a hair salon in Los Angeles on Wednesday (02Nov11) during an appearance on RYAN SEACREST’s radio show.
The teenage pop star was a guest on the radio presenter’s broadcast and Seacrest encouraged the singer to call a local hair salon and ask for a Bieber-style blowdry.
Bieber happily picked up the phone and dialled the salon, speaking to a receptionist who was unaware of her caller’s celebrity status.
He said, "Do you guys do The Bieber? The Bieber haircut… The blowdry… Do you guys do the Bieber blowdry?… Right so I’d like to book an appointment for Friday at 5pm to do the Bieber… This is Justin… What exactly is the Bieber?" The receptionist replied, "I guess you just bring in a picture of Justin Bieber’s hair the way you like it and we will do it that way." Bieber then revealed his true identity, telling her, "What if I come in as Justin Bieber? What would you guys do then? This is Justin Bieber." The woman sounded unconvinced and the call left Bieber and Seacrest in fits of giggles as they hung up the phone, with Bieber laughing, "She sounded like she bought it."

JAMES star TIM BOOTH stepped up security at a concert in Manchester, England on Monday (31Oct11) after receiving a series of frightening threats.
The singer filed a report with U.K. police after menacing notices were plastered over advertisements for the band’s gig at the city’s Bridgewater Hall on Monday (31Oct11).
Fans were searched before entering the venue, and the frontman later interrupted their set to inform the crowd about his scare and appeal for help.
Discussing the threats, Booth tells the Manchester Evening News, "The posters were put up over James posters at the Bridgewater Hall… Someone’s gone to a bit of effort. They detail what they’re going to do to me when they get hold of me…
"I felt it better to announce it to the audience and also if anyone sees someone handing posters out to report it to the police. We have told the police.
"I’m assuming they’re going to be at one of the shows, that’s why I’m talking to the audience… I just felt like I was going to come out and make light of it as well, just inform the audience so they know what’s going on. I’m hoping we can flush him out at a show because he’ll be in an environment where I can deal with him." Booth also reveals he has been receiving "strange" email messages for several months.
He adds, "I�ve been getting some strange emails from someone for about a year and a half that have been getting weirder and weirder, which could be from the same person (who put up the posters) but we don�t know."

Rapper MC HAMMER found himself in the middle of a police confrontation on Wednesday (02Nov11) as he participated in anti-capitalism rally in California.
The hip-hop star took to the streets of Oakland to join the crowds who shut down the city’s cargo port as part of an ongoing protest against corporate greed.
Tensions heightened after cops in riot gear allegedly used tear gas to control the thousands of activists, and Hammer reported from the scene via his Twitter.com page, writing, "It’s tense down here… I’m lost for words… about to post some photos… I’m at Occupy Oakland." The rapper then shared photographs of himself in the middle of the protesters’ camp as well another shot showing police officers forming a barricade.
He also ‘re-Tweeted’ messages from a fellow activist, who wrote, "Police kneeling to don gas masks… Tear gas, stampede. Occupy Oakland general strike ends badly."

KIM KARDASHIAN has cut short her trip to Australia in the wake of her divorce news.
The socialite announced her split from basketball player Kris Humphries on Monday (31Oct11), just 72 days after their highly-publicised wedding in August (11). She flew to Australia hours after filing divorce papers for a business trip to promote her new handbag line in Sydney with her sister Khloe.
Kardashian appeared on Australian breakfast TV on Thursday (03Nov11), and discussed the break-up in her first post-split interview, and she was due to head to Melbourne on Saturday (05Nov11) for a day at the races in conjunction with the Swisse vitamins brand.
However, the reality TV star has now pulled out of the appearance with plans to cut her Australia trip short and fly home to the U.S.
She says in a statement, "I am very disappointed that I am unable to attend the Swisse marquee but I hope to come back and work with the Swisse team at another point in time.'’ A representative for Swisse adds, "All indications were that Kim wanted to fulfill all of her commitments once she landed in Australia but has obviously changed her mind given her very difficult personal challenges at the moment."

British actor BILL NIGHY has flown to France to support campaigners as they lobby world leaders over the implementation of a new super tax on the wealthy.
The G20 Summit is underway in Cannes, France with attendees including British Prime Minister David Cameron, French President Nicolas Sarkozy and German chancellor Angela Merkel, and the talks are set to be dominated by the current financial crisis in the Eurozone.
The Love Actually star has also travelled to France as part of a campaign in favour of a new Robin Hood Tax on the rich, which would see a levy imposed on large financial transactions and distributed among good causes, and he is adamant world leaders need to agree to the proposals.
He tells BBC Breakfast, "This is a 50 pence tax on every thousand pounds generated in cyberspace… It would be at each country’s discretion to distribute the money as they see fit… a kind of institutionalised charity. This tax would fall quite squarely on the broad shoulders of the rich… it’s also supported by some serious people like Warren Buffett… Bill Gates is about to address leaders at the summit about his support for the tax… It would be a wonderful, beautiful inexpressibly fabulous thing." Nighy also praised campaigners around the world who have been demonstrating against corporate greed, with the Occupy Wall Street protest in New York and the camp outside St Paul’s Cathedral in London.
He adds, "The dignity and restraint of the protests have had an enormous effect on people around the world, not only on the Robin Hood Tax (campaign)."

JESSICA BIEL auditioned for the lead role in THE NOTEBOOK covered in fake blood in between takes on the set of horror movie remake THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE.
Rachel McAdams eventually won the part in the 2004 romantic box office hit, which cemented her and co-star Ryan Gosling as two of Hollywood’s hottest young stars.
Biel has revealed she was one of the actresses considered for the role and was forced to perform alongside Gosling for director Nick Cassavetes in extraordinary circumstances.
She tells America’s Elle magazine, "That’s (The Notebook role) one that I wanted so badly. I was in the middle of shooting Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and I auditioned with Ryan Gosling in my trailer - covered in blood. Nick Cassavetes put me through the wringer in an interesting, excitingly creative way. But there’s a million that get away. We’re gluttons for punishment. It’s just rejection."

Spears took in the show with her boyfriend Jason Trawick, before heading backstage to meet the cast, which includes British pop star Shayne Ward.
Ward took to his Twitter.com after the meeting, writing, "Met Britney Spears tonight. She was kind enough to come backstage and have a picture with us all. She was lovely and looks really well."

WU-TANG CLAN rapper RZA has joined the cast of QUENTIN TARANTINO’s gritty new western DJANGO UNCHAINED.
It won’t be the first time he and Tarantino have worked together - the hip-hop star helped create the music for the director’s Kill Bill movies.
RZA will join Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson, Jamie Foxx, Don Johnson, Kurt Russell and Kerry Washington in the slave drama.
