CARR SORRY FOR ‘BAD TIMING’ OVER CRASH JOKE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:17 pm

British comedian JIMMY CARR has apologised for telling a joke about car crashes shortly after seven motorists died in Britain’s worst road disaster for 20 years.
The funnyman posted a comment on his Twitter.com page on Sunday (06Nov11) less than 48 hours after seven people died and more than 50 were injured in a fireball following a 34-vehicle pile-up in England.
Carr soon realised his joke could be mistakenly linked to the horror in Somerset on Friday night (04Nov11) and removed the post, apologising to his followers and insisting he was not referring to the crash.
He writes, "Very bad timing by me. The joke was obviously not about recent tragic events. Apologies if any offence caused." Police have launched a criminal investigation into the horrific accident amid claims drivers were blinded by a wall of fog or smoke, possibly linked to a nearby fireworks display.

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:16 am

The Rehab star was found dead at her home in London in July (11) and her death was ruled "misadventure" after an inquest last month (Oct11) found she died after drinking too much alcohol.
Winehouse’s grieving mother Janis recently took a trip to Spain with her new husband Richard to have dinner with friends, but was forced to flee the venue when the singer’s hit song Valerie came on the radio.
She tells Britain’s Daily Mail, "The meal was over in that instant. We paid the bill and left. I still find it impossible to listen to Amy’s music."

BARKIN THRILLED TO WORKING WITH FIRST DIRECTOR’S SON ON HIS FILM DEBUT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:16 am

ELLEN BARKIN was stunned to find herself in SAM LEVINSON’s directorial debut because his dad was behind the camera for her breakthrough movie.
Levinson wasn’t even born when his father Barry directed Barkin in 1982 film Diner and he was stunned to discover the actress hadn’t figured out who he was when they first started working together.
She tells WENN, "I was working with Sam for a week and a half on another project that he had rewritten and he was on this shoot to tweak dialogue and work with the actors because we had a non-director. I was sitting in my canvas chair in between scenes, in my bad villain girl costume and Sam was sitting next to me.
"I had spent every day with this man on the set as the director/writer even though he had nothing to do with directing camera because the movie sucks and my script is closed and I looked down and said, ‘Wait. Levinson. Are you Barry’s kid?’ And he said, ‘Didn’t you know that?’. It was amazing." Levinson adds, "I was actually minus three years old when my dad directed Diner… and I love her in Diner, but her body of work is just so diverse and she’s such a phenomenal actor in so many ways that when I approached her with this script, the last thing I was thinking was, ‘My father worked with her at some point’. It didn’t hit me until a bit later into the process." Barkin heads up the cast in Levinson’s feature film debut Another Happy Day.

JOLIE RECEIVES BOSNIAN HOUSING HONOUR

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:16 am

Officials in Bosnia have named an apartment block after ANGELINA JOLIE because her visit to a refugee camp in the country last year (10) prompted American politicians to finance the housing project.
The Hollywood actress visited refugees in the town of Rogatica last April (10) as part of her duties as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations, and met with elderly Bosnians who had been displaced by the 1992 to 1995 war.
Her highly-publicised trip caused ripples back in her native America, with government officials agreeing to donate $500,000 (£312,000) for a housing scheme.
On Thursday (03Nov11), 13 refugees from the camp moved into a new fully-furnished apartment building, which has been named Villa Angelina in the Oscar-winner’s honour.
New resident Lena Babic, 79, who met Jolie during her visit to the camp, will never forget what the star has done for her.
She tells the Associated Press, "Angelina saw everything. She said, ‘If I can do anything, you will have your own bathroom.’ She could not have done it on her own, others also helped, but she is the one who is in my heart."

WINGER ASKS FANS TO HELP FUND LATEST CLASSICAL PIECE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:13 am

Rocker KIP WINGER is calling on fans to help him fund a new classical recording with an Ohio student orchestra.
The former Winger star and one-time Alice Cooper band bassist has kicked off a 45-day online fundraising drive to raise $33,000 (£20,600).
The cash raised, via website Kickstarter.com, will enable him to cover costs for the recording of Conversations With Nijinsky, which is planned for January (12).
He’ll be joined in the studio by students from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio.
Conversations With Nijinsky will be Winger’s follow-up to his composition Ghosts for Christopher Wheeldon, which he recorded with the San Francisco Ballet.
The enterprising rocker also plans to shoot the two-day recording session for a future documentary.
The composition was inspired by the life of fabled Russian ballet dancer and choreographer Vaslav Nijinsky.
Winger tells WENN, "I conceived the piece as the accompaniment to the unseen dances of Nijinsky, whose career was cut short by schizophrenia." Fans who donate to the Kickstarter.com initiative will be given co-producer credit on the finished album, and the chance to sit in on rehearsals and recording.

WESTLIFE SNUBBED LUCRATIVE DEAL TO STAY TOGETHER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:13 am

Irish pop stars WESTLIFE are adamant no amount of money will spark a future reunion, because they have already turned down a multi-million dollar deal to stay together.
The Flying Without Wings hitmakers have announced they are to split in 2012 following a greatest hits tour after 14 years together.
The singers insist they won’t be tempted to reunite after they go their separate ways, as they have already snubbed a lucrative deal from their Sony record company to carry on.
Bandmember Kian Egan tells The Sun, "We walked away from a multi-million pound record deal that would have changed our lives for ever, secured our future beyond anything.
"It’s not about the money. We’d have made far more on a new record than we ever would with a comeback tour." Nicky Byrne adds to Britain’s Daily Star, "It’s not a publicity stunt… Other bands who have breaks know they might come back. We’re saying we’re not."
